It's November and the colder weather is on its way!
Epoxy resin and colder temperatures are not friends at all - in fact, cold resin is full of zilions of microbubbles that no amount of torching will be able to get rid of ( to prevent this, always make sure you bring your resin to room temperature before you resin, or if it's really cold, you can give it a cozy, warm water bath )

In today's Video Friday, with bubbles on her brain, Joanne gives her top tips on how to prevent bubbles in your cured resin ....

1. Seal anything that may contain trapped air ( natural objects like wood, paper, plant material etc can often off-gas and release trapped air in the form of bubbles! )
2. Give your cold resin a warm water bath.
3. Don't whip your resin - stir slowly and deliberately. Whipping your resin incorporates more air, which means more bubbles,
4. Pour your resin slowly and close to your surface.
5. Pour in 1/8" layers - if you pour thicker than this, bubbles won't have a chance to escape to the surface to get torched out.
6. Always use a torch to get rid of bubbles - heat guns just can't match a gas powered flame for efficiency or efficacy.
7. Some pieces need to be babysat after you pour - come back and check on your piece to make sure no stray bubbles have appeared. Keep a toothpick handy for easy bubble popping!

And there you have it - some handy tips to help stop bubbles in their tracks!
Happy Friday!
