As many of you know, LeBron James is a legendary NBA player who has had a huge impact on the league.
But did you know that he also has a son, Bronny James, who is following in his footsteps and
making a name for himself in the basketball world? Similarly, Carmelo Anthony is another NBA star who
has a son, Keon Anthony, who is also showing promise as a young basketball player. Today,
we are going to take a closer look at these two talented young athletes and talk about their
journeys in the world of basketball. We'll also discuss their relationships with their fathers,
who are both NBA legends in their own right. So, if you are a fan of basketball or just want to
learn more about the next generation of talented players, then this video is for you. Stick around
and let's get started. As teenagers, Bronny James and Keon Anthony are already under intense
scrutiny from the public and media. Every move they make is analyzed and compared to their
careers. It's unfair to expect these kids to hit every shot and if they miss a few,
it doesn't mean that they are not good. The pressure that these kids have to face is
something that nobody understands and it's just crazy that these kids have to go through this
their entire lives. But despite all of this pressure, these players are rising to the
occasion and making a name for themselves. Keon Anthony is only a sophomore at Christ
the King, but the 15-year-old is already making his name known. Standing at 6'3 and weighing in
at 165 pounds, Keon is a four-star shooting guard prospect who is part of the class of 2025.
Not only is Keon a top prospect nationally, ranking number 62 in the country, but he's also
the number 14 shooting guard and number 3 prospect in the state of New York. On the other hand,
LeBron James' son Bronny is a talented young basketball player who currently plays for Sierra
Canyon in California. He stands at 6'3 and weighs 190 pounds and is known for his skills as a combo
guard. Bronny is ranked number 43 in the class of 2023 and is considered one of the top recruits
in the country. Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James have gone head-to-head 46 times thus far throughout
their NBA careers, including the playoffs. But their history predates the rivalry in the league
because two years before the future Hall of Famers were selected in the top three in the
stellar 2003 draft, they faced off in front of 11,000 fans as St. Vincent St. Mary took on Oak
Hill Academy. The two combined for an impressive 70 points with James scoring 36 points, 8 rebounds,
and 6 steals, and Anthony scoring 34 points and 11 rebounds as St. Vincent St. Mary emerged
victorious with a 72-66 win. Now, this wasn't just an ordinary game. It was a huge matchup,
but unfortunately, it wasn't nationally televised. It wasn't until 10 months later that LeBron
finally made his ESPN debut, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait. The 17-year-old phenom
scored a whopping 31 points and had 13 rebounds and 6 assists. He led his team St. Vincent St.
Mary's to victory over the top-ranked team in the nation at that time, Oak Hill, which just so
happens to be Carmelo Anthony's alma mater. BRONNIE AND KEON
Fast forward 20 years, LeBron and Carmelo Anthony found themselves in a high school gym together,
but they're not there to play. They're there to watch their sons take the court for what
could potentially be the first of many matchups as Bronnie Sierra Canyon took on Keon's Christ
the King. Bronnie James and Sierra Canyon took out the win on their home floor, edging Keon
and Christ the King 62-51. As a sophomore playing varsity, Keon's minutes were limited,
but 6-foot-3 senior Bronnie put on a show, finishing with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3
assists, showcasing his effortless athleticism and finishing at the rim. He also finished with
a monster dunk that had James standing on his feet in amazement. It's reminiscent of the dunk
that LeBron made back then while in high school. Though Keon didn't get as much attention as
Bronnie, he hit 2 of 4 from 3-point range and finished with 8 points. On the brighter side,
he is a better shooter. His first basket was a catch-and-shoot three from the corner early
in the second quarter. He also shined from beyond the arc with the signature Anthony family jumpshot.
During halftime, Anthony weighed in on his son, Keon, while detailing the special feeling of
watching him face off against LeBron's sons, Bronnie and Bryce. We just got to enjoy these
moments because they don't come often. To be here full circle and watch Bronnie, and what he's doing,
and what he's about to go on to with Bryce coming right behind him and Keon coming right behind
them. The legacy continues. It don't stop, Carmelo said during ESPN's broadcast of the game to NBA
reporter Malika Andrews. I think he's at the age now where he can receive what I'm trying to teach
him and what I'm trying to give him and advice I'm trying to give him, Carmelo said of his son.
As a 15-year-old, Keon's game is just beginning to develop. For years now, we've seen videos of
him in the gym with his father, Carmelo, and well-renowned NBA trainer, Chris Brickley.
This past fall, Keon competed in the Overtime Elite Showcase, he went up against some of the
best 18-20 year old prospects in the country, and he looked extremely comfortable on the court.
Keon ended up scoring 20 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and making 3 steals in the game.
He also showed off his skills, including his ability to create a shot, beat his defenders
off the dribble, and knock down 3-pointers. Individually, I'm working on my defense and
rebounding the ball since I'm growing and getting longer. I want to be a shot-maker and a 3-level
scorer. I want to be able to go to the basket, shoot the midrange, and hit the 3 throughout the
game, Anthony told 24-7 Sports. Keon already received an offer from Syracuse University,
which joins a shortlist of schools like Memphis, George Mason, Manhattan, and Bryant,
which have already offered the son of a future Hall of Famer. I've been waiting for this offer
for a while, and it meant a lot just because my dad went there and won a national championship
there. A lot of people were waiting for me to have this on my checklist. It means a lot to me
to have a chance to continue the legacy. My dad tells me he loves the school, and it's like home
to him. He says I'm only a sophomore and can keep my options open and explore all aspects, Anthony
said. Carmelo Anthony earned the Most Outstanding Player honor in the 2003 NCAA Tournament after
lifting his team to a national championship. That was the Orange's first and only NCAA
Tournament trophy. Carmelo Anthony left Syracuse almost two decades ago, but he hasn't lost contact
with the Orange. One of his most recent check-ins was attending a football game on November 12.
Bronny has kept his recruitment under wraps but took a visit to Ohio State this fall.
James has nine reported offers that include Memphis, Ohio State, and USC with interests
from Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, and Oregon. But no clear favorite has
emerged as of yet. The timeframe for his decision has not been announced, but he is expected to
decide late. Keon has the unique opportunity to learn from NBA legend Carmelo Anthony,
who is not only a dotting father but also has tons of time to dedicate to helping Keon hone
his skills. With this type of guidance, Keon can develop skills that his peers may not have the
chance to learn. As we have already seen, Keon is making great progress and these skills will
surely take him to the next level in his basketball career. Final Thoughts
As many of you already know, Melo is currently a free agent. However, he spent last season
playing for the Lakers alongside LeBron James, who is still on the Lakers roster. Both players
have had impressive careers in the NBA with over two decades of experience under their belts.
Their legacies are already cemented as future Hall of Famers, but their sons are just getting
started in their basketball careers. It will be interesting to see how they follow in their
father's footsteps and make their own mark on the league. We can't predict the future,
but we can certainly watch them and hope for the best.
