A couple days ago I went to a Japanese restaurant and ordered a dish called Bang Bang shrimp. And I thought it would be a lot of fun to try out this recipe. So instead of deep frying it. I decided to bake it. Watch this video to find out how to easily make Bang Bang Shrimp at home!
1 pound of medium shrimp A pinch of salt A pinch of pepper 1/2 cup of corn starch 1 egg 8 tablespoons of water 1 cup of breadcrumbs 1/2 cup of mayonnaise 1 tablespoon of Sriracha sauce 1 tablespoon of ground fresh chili paste 1 tablespoon of honey
Clean and devein 1 pound of shrimp. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
To make the batter, in a big bowl, add 1/2 cup of corn starch, 1 egg, a pinch of salt, and about 8 tablespoons of water until the mixture has the right consistency. Then add all the shrimp in the batter and mix well.
Place a piece of foil paper on a baking sheet. Dip each shrimp in a cup of bread crumbs, and then place on the baking sheet.
Hi all my foodies, so a couple of days ago I went to this Japanese restaurant, really
amazing restaurant, and they have this dish called Bang Bang Shrimp.
The way that they do it is to deep fry it, it's so delicious and crunchy, so after I
came home I decided to make it myself.
My version is actually to bake it.
So you actually have this similar crunchy and yummy texture, just a lot healthier.
In front of me I have about one pound of deveined shrimp, and we're going to season with a pinch
of salt and a pinch of pepper.
To make the batter, in a big bowl we're going to add half of a cup of cornstarch, one egg,
a pinch of salt, and about 8 tablespoons of water, or until the mixture has the right
consistency.
Then add all the shrimp into the batter and mix well.
Now we're going to place one piece of foil paper on a baking sheet, and then we're going
to dip each shrimp in a cup of breadcrumbs, just like this.
And now we're just going to place each one of them on the baking sheet.
And I preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and we're going to bake the shrimp in the
oven for 10 minutes.
So in the meantime we're going to make the sauce.
So in a bowl we're going to mix half of a cup of mayonnaise, one tablespoon of sriracha
sauce.
Now here's something interesting.
Sriracha sauce is actually originated from Thailand, but a lot of people here in the
U.S. believe that it's Vietnamese sauce.
Why is that?
That's because the owner of this company, Hui Fung Foods, is actually Vietnamese, and
he's the one who introduced sriracha sauce to the whole U.S., and that's why whenever
you go to a Vietnamese restaurant, you'll always see this bottle.
Okay, so then we're also going to add one tablespoon of grounded, fresh chili paste,
just like this one.
And we're just going to mix well.
Now we're going to take out the shrimp from the oven, and then we're going to flip to
another side, and we're going to put it back into the oven and bake it for another five
minutes.
Now we're going to take out the shrimp, plate them beautifully, and we're going to drizzle
our lovely sauce.
And I hope you enjoy this recipe.
Okay, so bang, bang, shrimp.
Mmm, crunchy and crispy, and I really, really love the sauce.
It's really rich, and at the same time, it gives you a kick at the end.
All right, so I'll just see you next Tuesday at the same time, 2 p.m.
