The superhero movie Black Widow, released in 2021, is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is the 24th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was made by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (MCU). Scarlett Johansson plays Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the Cate Shortland-directed movie, which also stars Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, Olga Kurylenko, William Hurt, Ray Winstone, and Rachel Weisz. Romanoff is on the run in the movie, which is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), and she is forced to face her history as a Russian spy before becoming an Avenger.
