The world is stunned in The Tomorrow War when a group of time travelers arrives from the year 2051 with an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, humanity is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only way for soldiers and civilians from the present to survive is for them to be transported to the future and join the fight. Dan Forester, a high school teacher and family man, is among those who have been recruited (Chris Pratt). Dan joins forces with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) in a desperate attempt to rewrite the world's fate for his young daughter.

From July 2–5, 2.41 million homes watched the movie, which is a record for an Amazon Original according to Samba TV. According to Screen Engine's PostVOD summary, the film has a "definitely recommended" audience score of 53%, making the average audience score for a streaming title 42%. According to Nielsen ratings, the film was watched for 1.1 billion minutes from July 5 to July 11, making it the third most watched on-demand video of the week, trailing only Virgin River (1.45 billion minutes) and Manifest (1.81 billion minutes).

On September 3, 2021, the film opened in theaters in China and grossed US$8.1 million over the weekend, finishing in second place. By the end of its release, the film had grossed $19.2 million.
