We are an ADVENTUROUS family of 6 who lost our son to SIDS in 2014. Our biggest regret was not having family videos of him when he was here and is why we started doing daily vlogs!
Thomas is a 2X North American Champion in his kick-boxing career and Ashley is a network-marketing professional.
Together we have 6 year old Identical twins- Simon & Cohen. Our son Miloh was born 12/12/13 and passed away 5/20/14. We were blessed with our Rainbow baby (and 4th son) Ezrah this year on 03/02/17 and we have loved sharing our every day journey with our followers and are looking forward to where this journey takes us!
So tomorrow is my mom's 60th birthday,
which is crazy because this is a big year for her and this is also the year I
will be turning 30.
So we're exactly 30 years apart and both of our big birthday years happen to be
this year.
So I am in the middle of making her a little farmhouse sign.
Um, and this is something that is actually pretty meaningful to her,
but I also just wanted to kind of show you guys the process that I do when I
make these kinds of signs.
We're here to visit my mom on her birthday and I don't think I showed you guys
what I finished last night. So in case I don't show you,
or I give it to her and I forget. So blurry. It's blurry. It's blurry. Okay,
here it is. And I made it look really old. That was the key here.
That was the goal. Um, so it's like sanded down a lot,
but this sign will bring back some memories for her.
So her mom and dad met at the chick chicken.
It was in North Ogden and it was my grandpa.
It was in the basement of his gas station and she was a server there when they
met. So it's just kind of cool.
But my mom has a ton of memories about the chick chicken and this is actually
what we named our chicken coop. So we just made another sign for our chickens.
I don't know. Okay. We, it's Monday.
I don't know if you guys know our routine, but on Mondays,
it's very dark in here. Hold on. On Mondays. Oh, it's so hot. You guys,
this has been, anyway, I gotta just go. Okay. On Monday,
we always go to the gym and we go grocery shopping for the whole week and we
get everything. We plan it out before we get everything.
So we only have to go to the store one time. So that's what we're here to do.
But before we go in, you guys, can you say how blinding our shoes are?
Bleach Thomas taught me this cool trick and it's called washing with bleach and
it works. This is what I'm craving for breakfast.
So this is what I'm having and then this is the syrup I'll be using.
So Walden farms,
there's zero calories and it tastes exactly like regular syrup.
When we were at the store,
I was going to pull this out and then I just forgot to do it.
So something that we never talk to you guys about,
but something that we do and I probably could make an entire video on like
budgeting and finances and, and just kind of how we do things.
If you guys are interested in a video like that, let me know.
And I'll just make a very detailed video.
But basically something that we've been doing for a very long time is we have
our little envelope system and it's very similar to the Dave Ramsey one,
but we've tweaked it a little bit, right?
It's actually like a big game to me. It is. It's really fun, right?
I'm being serious. It's actually so one num,
the number one thing you guys got to be on the same page cause if you're not
doing it together then and you're a married couple,
then you're going to have some issues.
You both have to be on the exact same page.
Like if I was on a page of buck 50,
we need to be on the same page.
So you have,
we have a written out budget every single month and we stick to that.
So on Mondays what we do is we go to the ATM,
we pull out our budget money for the whole week and that's all we get for the
whole week. I hate you.
That's all the money we get for the week.
So once it's out,
it's out and there's no more money.
We don't pull out any more money.
So by sticking to this budget it's really helped us because I will be the first
to tell you if you do not have a strict budget and you are a habitual spender,
you will,
it doesn't matter how much money you earn,
you will spend all the money that you earn.
So this is what's been working for us.
For an example,
all groceries,
what we do is,
um,
we have a budget of $125 a week for groceries and that includes diapers,
um,
wipes,
laundry,
detergent,
dishwasher,
soap,
toilet paper,
paper towel.
I'm talking anything that's consumable is considered grocery.
So we easily as a family of five budget for $125 a week.
So we pull out 125 for the groceries,
but we also pull out an additional 125 for extra things and there isn't anything
specific.
So for an example,
come here and you put on a different shirt and it's backwards and inside out.
For an example,
the boys needed their haircut the other last week and it would have cost us $40
to go get their haircut.
But we were like,
okay,
we can either use that $40 and take them to go see the Incredibles and cut their
hair ourselves or use it to cut their hair and go see it another time.
It really helps us to not overspend because normally I'm like,
we're going to do this and we're going to do this and we're going to do this.
And so everything just kind of paused on top of each other.
And then we are going way over budget every single month.
So this is what we've been doing for the past couple of months and it's been
very helpful.
So this was like,
for example,
this is my June,
my June envelope that is now in our filing cabinet.
But as you can see here,
what I do is anything that's not like an actual bill,
I'm just like going into all the details right now,
but anything that's not an actual bill that gets taken out.
So like our house payment and car insurance and those and our phone bill and
those kinds of things.
So if it's not one of those and we spend money on it with our other budget or
our grocery budget,
then we save all of the receipts.
So this is all the receipts from the month of June right in here.
So this,
this also really helps us with taxes because by the end of the year when we're
going to file taxes,
we have every single receipt that we used that was outside of those other types
of bills.
And then those types of bills,
we already have them documented in our bank statement.
So that's just something that we do.
If you guys really want like a maybe 10,
15 minute video,
like going into detail and maybe a little bit of our financial story,
we would love to get that out for you because budgeting is so necessary and if
you're not doing it 100% then you will find yourself just digging yourself into
a deeper hole every single month.
So yeah,
we would just love to share some of the things that we've learned over the years,
some of the things we wish we didn't do,
some of the things we are glad we did.
We could totally share some of that information with you guys.
So just let us know.
Okay.
They think they're going to make it and it's freaking me out.
Babe,
you're not.
You're not.
You're in the bush.
You're in a bush.
I hate you.
I mean like that.
Okay.
Nevermind.
I guess there was room.
Nevermind.
It looks good.
But pickle came running in the house covered in mud.
All carpet.
There was like footprints everywhere.
And then a huge spot over there.
Isn't it so funny?
And it's just like,
this is all new.
I mean,
Ezra pulls his face all day,
right?
It's just like all day long.
Most stoked little kid in the world.
He is.
Oh,
yay.
Wow.
I think,
I think Raiden's freaking out.
I'm going to go see what dad's doing.
Okay.
Look at that little hunchback.
Just like mom.
What do I hear in here?
You're grappling.
I got him in a body triangle.
Oh my gosh.
Look at him,
dude.
He's trying to eat him.
You guys look so cute.
Raiden.
Will you say Raiden?
I don't think you've ever had the pleasure of saying goodnight to our friends,
but I think we're going to call it a night cause I got busy things I got to do
for tomorrow.
Raiden,
will you say goodbye?
I love you.
