Hi my dear friends, welcome back to Plants and Lucia.
My name is Lucia and this right here is Carmen.
Today we talk about the beautiful silver pothos.
Okay, coming up!
This channel is all about houseplants.
So if you wanna learn how to take care of them, how to display them,
or even how to connect with them,
make sure to subscribe so we can see each other every Tuesday and Thursday
and talk about plants.
But now, let's get to the video.
This plant is beautiful you guys.
First of all, the leaves are in the shape of hearts.
The color of the plant is dark green and the leaves have this silver splash on them,
giving them that satin feel.
It is a vine, so it grows actually like this.
So it is also very good for a hanging plant.
This plant is very easy to take care of and very easy to keep happy.
You just have to follow some tips.
So let's get to how you can keep this plant super happy at your house.
In terms of temperature, this plant will love average warm temperatures.
So make sure to keep her in a room that is between 18 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Cold air may damage the foliage,
so do not expose her to temperatures that are below 18 degrees.
And remember, throughout the year, try to avoid cold drafts.
The silver pothos does better in slightly more humid environments.
So a bathroom and a kitchen should be fine for your plant.
As long as she gets the right amounts of sunlight.
Actually, I have my silver pothos in my living room.
And I have my plant with other tropical plants that also like humidity.
So she seems to be happy there.
If the leaves are turning brown at the edges, that means that the air may be too dry for her.
So if you see this, try to increase humidity for your plant.
In terms of sunlight, this plant likes bright indirect sunlight throughout the year.
So direct sunlight will actually scorch the leaves.
And if you provide too much sunlight, you will lose the variegation on the leaves.
So these are some signs to know whether to provide more sunlight or less sunlight for your plant.
When we talk about watering, a very important thing to remember is not to overwater your plant.
So, this plant needs moderate watering.
The way that I check if my plant needs watering is with my finger.
I put my finger inside the soil until the second knuckle.
Once I feel that the soil is dry, then I water.
So I can tell you, I think I water this plant about once every two weeks.
And she seems to be very happy.
Watch out for yellow leaves.
If you see that your plant has some yellow leaves,
this may mean that you're overwatering your plant.
So cut down on the watering and make sure to check the soil.
In terms of toxicity, this plant is actually mildly toxic to humans and pets.
It can cause a mild irritation in the mouth when chewed or swallowed,
and a mild digestive reaction.
So just don't eat it.
For an extra tip, make sure to trim any yellow,
diseased or damaged leaf and stem as they occur.
This will help your plant focus on the healthy leaves and stems.
When you do this, remember to use clean and sharp pruning shears.
Okay my friends, these are some of the tips that I can give you for this beautiful plant.
As I said, this plant is really strong.
So just follow these tips and she'll be healthy and happy.
