Hello my friends! Welcome to Plants and Lucia.
My name is Lucia and this right here is Camila.
She's named after my dear friend from Bolivia
because she actually is found in Bolivia.
Today I'm going to share with you how to take care of this beautiful
red log. Okay, coming up. In this community we love plants, so we
learn how to take care of them, how to display them, or even how to
connect with them. So if you'd like to join the community
please make sure to subscribe so we can see each other every week
and talk about plants. But now let's get to the video.
This plant is beautiful you guys. One special thing about it is actually her
leaves. So at the top her leaves are actually
green, right? But then if you turn it and you
see the bottom of her leaves they're actually red. I don't know if you
can see there, yeah. So it is really special you guys.
As a Latin American plant that comes from the tropics,
this plant loves great weathers you guys. So,
you should keep her in a room that is between 15 to 20 degrees Celsius.
In terms of humidity, this Peperomia doesn't require so much humidity.
So as long as you don't have her in a very dry room or very close to the
heating system where the air is super dry,
she should be fine. So this plant loves sunlight you guys.
So you should keep her in a room that is as bright as possible.
And actually direct sunlight is not a problem for her. She will be very happy
with direct sunlight. As you can see she travels towards where
the sun is. And this plant, I have to turn it every
day because if not this is gonna happen. So basically
I forgot in the last day to do it. So it's been two days that she's like this
and that's why she's turning towards the window. So I'm gonna have
to turn it. But yeah, so for lighting just make sure
that she gets a lot of sunlight. In terms of water, I actually water this
plant as most of my plants actually. So I give her moderate watering.
The way that I check if she needs water is actually with my finger. So I put my
finger inside the soil until the second knuckle
and then once I feel that the soil is dry, then I water.
So make sure to let the soil dry in between watering.
And the method that I use to water this plant is actually my favorite watering
method for my plants, which is the bottom watering method.
So I really like it because of various reasons actually.
First you make sure that the water gets into the roots
from below, which is very efficient method. Second,
once you're done watering it, you just let the water drain down
and you make sure that the plant is not sitting in soaked soil.
On top of that, you can actually use the same water for other plants that you may
be watering that day. The growing seasons for the red log are
actually spring to fall. So make sure to fertilize your plant
once a month during this time of the year. An extra love tip for this plant is
actually related to how she grows. So as I said in the light section, this
plant will grow towards the sun. So make sure to turn it every day so she
can actually grow up and not in an angle. So how do you take
care of your red log? Please make sure to comment below so we
can all learn together. If you like this video and would like to be part of this
beautiful community, make sure to subscribe so we can see each
other every week and talk about plants. And as always, I will see you next week.
Okay, bye!
