Hi everyone! Welcome to Plants and Lucia. My name is Lucia and this is Manet. I want to share with
you that this plant is actually called after one of the strongest women I have ever known, which is
my sister. Hola Manet! I'm also very happy because spring is finally coming. In this time our plants
are going to start to grow, so they will need more space in their pots. This is the perfect
timing to start repotting your plants. So in this video we're gonna learn how to repot our plants
together. Coming up! This channel is all about houseplants, so if you are interested in how to
take care of them, how to display them, how to connect with them, make sure to subscribe so you
don't miss any videos. But now let's get to repotting. As I said, spring is a very good time
to repot your plants, but there are other ways to check if your plant needs repotting. One way to
check is to look at the draining holes and see if the roots are coming out. As you can see here,
this one, it is actually a little bit coming out here. A second way to check is to take your plant
out of the container, and oh my god, this one of course needs repotting. That's why I'm doing it
today. But if you see that your roots are tangling around the soil, that's a very good sign that your
plant does need repotting. So let's get to it. For our new container, we want a container that
is one size bigger. This is usually two centimeters bigger in diameter, or in inches, I think it will
be one and a half inch. Just so you have it visually, this is the old container from my plant,
and this is the next size. So there you go, just like this. Then you can see here.
The material for your container is totally up to you. I prefer plastic because it's a lighter
material, and I actually water my plants from the bottom, so this is actually really good for this
kind of method for watering. But of course some people prefer terracotta pots because it's a
porous material, so the oxygen will go through it more easily. So just make sure that your pot has
holes for drainage in the bottom. If your pot doesn't have holes, you can also use stones in
the bottom before you put the soil, or these pebbles. I found this in Ikea, they were really
cheap, so this actually helps for drainage too. To take our plant out of the older container is
very easy. You just have to put your plant upside down and pat it gently but firmly.
And it should come out very easily like that. Once your plant is out, gently spread its roots
so that they can actually grow into the new soil. We have repotted our first plant together.
