After the arctic ferry ride to the beautiful Malaysian island of Langkawi, we get a Grab (since they recently merged with Uber who no longer exists in SE Asia) to our lovely little hotel at Pentai Cenang (Cenang Beach) and waste no time getting right our for a walk on the beach to dip our toes in the warm salt water of the Andaman Sea. Cenang Beach is our kind of place so we wander around sampling food, checking out the night market, playing on the beach and checking out the Water Buffalo grazing behind our room. LIfe is going great....then Kate gets sick. Really sick. The clinic is well equipped and staffed but they can't figure out what is wrong with her. Further exploration of Langkawi will have to wait until another trip. We show the proper place to purchase tickets to Satun Thailand then, after another ferry ride, we enter Thailand and head for Hat Yai.

The ferry ride was freezing. Oh my goodness.
And uh but uh not not bad. Not bad. I mean it was
pretty miserable because it was freezing but other than that it was all right.
There was a lot of people puking on it. I had to put in my earphones
or i was gonna start to gag. And the movie they played was
Titanic which was pretty funny. Anyways we are off to our hotel. More
later. Welcome to where we're staying in
Langkawi. This place is gorgeous. We needed some beach time.
This view is right behind our hotel. We just arrived in Langkawi today
but initial impressions are. Oh it's cool. Penang was amazing and the food was
great but for a longer term thing Langkawi seems much more our style.
Well it's not street food but for our first meal in Langkawi we found
free crepes, cheese and potatoes. For our second stop
just on our beautiful walk in to get some breakfast slash lunch.
And uh there's water buffalo everywhere out here. It's cool.
Look at the little baby water buffalo. If the water
was clear it'd be perfect. Nice warm water.
Not snorkelable but there's some snorkeling spots out away from here a
little ways. Nice walking beach. Yeah. The night
market in Langkawi moves around every night.
Tonight it is right near where we're staying so we're gonna enjoy this.
And you know eat.
I'd like to say we've just been hanging out on the beach but the
truth is Kate got pretty sick the day after we got here.
And so now we're at the clinic. Really nice modern clinic. Got us right in.
A consultation was like thirty dollars. A bit steep for the area but really good.
Good doctor. Did the blood test right away. Really
nice facility. Very happy. Now we'll just hope we can get her
feeling better. You're gonna get your tickets to Satun, Thailand from here.
You gotta get them at this office at the main pier. 35 ringgit per person and you
need an original passport to buy it. Can't do it online right now.
Poor Kate is still down and out so I'm going out to try and find her some
chicken. See if she can finally keep some food down for the first time in a
couple days. Let's hope she gets better today because
uh we're doing a border crossing tomorrow.
Fingers crossed. Trying some Arabic food today. Hummus with lamb meat
and shawarma for Kate. Arabic barbecued chicken.
Yum.
Time to say goodbye to beautiful Langkawi. We'll have to come back here and
get to tour it a little more. Beautiful place. She's alive. Barely.
Satun. Around the ferry to Satun, Thailand.
