Check it out on this episode of How Not to Van Life.
Say hi, I'm Spencer Seabrook and start talking.
What about your van is special, Spencer Seabrook?
What's special about my van is that it's mine.
This is gonna be the highest quality van video I got.
Oh for sure, yeah.
I've lived out of a van for six years now.
Wow.
Yeah.
You have a house too.
I have a place, I have a home base.
He has a home, he parks it in front of.
I don't sleep in the home, I sleep in the van full time no matter what.
But my garage is like my storage area and it makes van life a lot easier
when you're not carrying your life with you in the van at all times.
Nice to have a little gear drop.
That way you have a little bit of extra room and you can fit things like
12-inch subwoofers, two of them, rather than having more storage.
I had to remove one 10-inch subwoofer because I didn't have enough room for,
well, clothes and stuff.
And that was a sad day.
Yeah.
Coming down to Moab for the, I think it's my fifth year coming down.
Survived the night.
Yeah.
I knew that it would be awfully cold down here.
It might even snow.
So what I did is I built myself a wood stove.
Did it for $20, all out of scrap.
And man, does it ever make a difference out here in the desert.
It's pretty toasty.
Your neighbor doesn't really like it when it's blowing smoke into his van, but I get over it.
Yeah, I don't really care.
All I know is your van's warm and mine's not.
It's not the smoke that bothers you, it's you knowing how warm I am that bothers you.
Yeah, it is.
It really is.
But this is all repurposed concrete pump pipes.
So you can unlatch it and slide the whole thing out really easily,
as well as the top stack on it.
So when I'm driving around, I don't have the stack on it.
I just throw a cap on it and it only sticks up about a half inch over my solar panel.
It's definitely a good upgrade.
And how's your solar panel system going?
Good.
I mean, I think it's covered in snow right now.
But we've got 240 watts up there.
And yeah, definitely upgraded from the last build.
Where do you set all your inverters and your batteries?
My batteries are underneath the fridge here.
It's just a 12-volt fridge.
It's horrible on power.
So generally, I just keep it on a switch so then I can turn it on or off when you need to.
Yeah, exactly.
Cool.
Yeah, we have some artwork by LJ.
And yeah, the desert up here and some beautiful fractal mountains, as well as the tree.
And all of it is UV reactive.
And of course, there's black lights in here.
So it's real nice at night.
These are just LEDs, right?
Where's your black lights?
The black lights are the LED black lights as well.
OK.
Yeah.
That's pretty legit.
Keeping it efficient.
The furry wall back here.
This is always nice and cozy.
How do you utilize your space under your bed?
It is one big drawer that comes out of the back.
Gotcha.
You want to see it?
Yeah, let's see it.
There's not much in there right now.
This episode is sponsored by Base Jump Moab.
If you want to jump with Andy Lewis, you can.
Go to basejumpmoab.com and schedule that.
Is that a BAD?
A big ass drawer?
This is a BAD.
OK.
Your standard van BAD.
Does it not have tracks?
Is it just a piece of plywood here?
No, what I actually did is I took some of the, uh, it's like that super woods,
the stuff they use for decking.
And it slides really nice against this plastic here.
And well, tracks are about $200.
This was free.
That's a good price.
Yeah.
You can't beat that.
No, you can't.
You can't.
So yeah, decisions are pretty easy.
It slides in just great.
I've got some room down the sides when I do need to slide some longer things in there.
This here is the door handle.
OK.
That's just an old climbing hold.
Is this a 5.0?
I mean, why didn't you go with something harder?
Because, uh, well, I wanted a good jug to grab.
You know, who doesn't?
Yeah.
And this is the only jug that I had available to me to use.
Gotcha.
It also reacts well with the black lights.
Just saying.
Perfect.
This is how you lock the door.
Oh, so you're training that way.
Yeah.
I generally don't lock it.
You know, I'm on the inside, you know.
No one's going to come in and **** around.
So, um, yeah.
OK.
It can be a little bit smaller.
Sounds good.
Yeah.
What kind of van is this?
This is a GMC Savannah.
2004.
Yeah.
How many miles are on this thing?
Kilometers.
Jesus Christ.
There's like 260,000 kilometers.
What is that, like 30,000 miles?
You're going to have to do the math.
It's going to be right here on the screen.
Cool.
Is that the only, is that the only cool stuff about your van?
It seems pretty lame.
I mean, um.
Yeah.
That's four tires and.
That's more of the things that it brings me to that are cool.
That's how vans work.
I don't live in my van.
I sleep in my van.
I live outside and do stuff.
Very good.
And that's the point of living in a van.
Very good.
You got window tires this time around?
No.
How not to van life.
Or therefore you shouldn't van life.
I don't know.
Thanks for coming by.
Don't ever come back.
Anyways, check out our other van videos.
We're going van to van around here, here at GGBY.
If you want to come to this festival, check it out at ggbygathering.org.
And if you want to jump off of a cliff and not die, go to basejumpmoab.com.
Hey, thanks for watching, but don't be an idiot and try highlining without going
with somebody who knows what they're doing the first time you go out.
We actually have available now the Highline University International,
which is A to Z everything you need to know before you go highlining.
This teaches you how to use a highline that's already rigged.
So let's talk about some leash management.
That's the H0 course, which is out right now and available at hownottohighline.com.
It's over 100 videos with quizzes, PDFs, illustrations,
and it comes with homework and teachers that you submit it to.
It's a very interactive online school.
So you get to learn in person online.
