Hey, what's going on, everybody?
It's Mike.
It's Dan.
And we are commenting again on your comments.
You know, you commented.
And we like to comment back.
Yeah, and this is our March edition.
Yeah.
Let's get started.
So on the video we published about the Asian parents.
Oh, yeah.
Why they're so awesome.
That was really fun to shoot that, by the way.
It was fun and long.
Yeah.
That's when we first introduced Felicia.
That's right.
Yeah.
She played a good Asian mom.
I think so.
So here we go.
Faye Dong says, I hate the fourth reason.
I forgot which one that is right now.
But my parents are obsessed with their remedies.
I think those teas and strange plants don't work,
doesn't taste good.
And when I say it doesn't work and I want a normal medicine,
they are saying, this is natural.
You don't know what those medicines are made of.
I mean, it's true.
Listen to your parents.
You want some natural stuff, stick those needles in you.
I mean, I always look at it like loss and gain, right?
If you want to get better, you can't just sit around.
You've got to drink some nasty tasting stuff.
You know what?
Here's the thing about Easter medicine.
This is what they say.
I'm not a doctor by any means.
But they say Western medicine covers up the illness.
That's right.
Easter medicine cures it from the roots.
That's right.
And also Western medicine, no doubt,
it's got all these side effects.
So the joke is you take one thing,
then you've got to take another thing for that thing,
and so on and so forth.
Next thing you know, you're taking 50 pills a day.
And Easter medicine, they just make
you drink those nasty gruels in a pot of black stew.
But it kind of works.
True.
Listen to your parents.
All right, Erica Guile Tarkras Skitty TV says,
quite a name, for the same video,
didn't have the greatest Asian parents,
but I did learn emotional independence.
Whoa.
Hmm.
I feel like that's kind of like.
I learned that too.
I was going to say.
I'm a master of emotional independence.
Yeah.
Explain that for us, Mike.
What is that?
A lot of us, we lack that environment,
where a lot of affection is shown, where a lot of,
you know, this typical parents and kids bonding stuff
that doesn't happen.
Right.
So you grow up.
You're kind of like, yeah, I don't really
need any of that stuff.
But here's the thing.
You don't know if you need it or not because you never had it.
Right.
But you do feel a little more stronger
and emotionally independent, if you want to call it that.
You know, it's not a bad thing.
Not a bad thing.
If you did something wrong, you know,
where, you know, guys ever watch Full House,
Danny Tanner would sit down and be like, well, Michelle.
And the music started playing.
And that's how you learned the lesson.
Right.
Asians, families, yo, boom.
That's how you learn the lesson.
Emotional independence, that's how you learn that.
And it's probably more true a little, you know, back then.
It's not as true anymore.
Not as true now because, like, you know,
people a little older than us are having kids.
And we've been, you know, they've probably been here,
like, already their whole lives.
Right.
So now Asian kids will understand
emotional attachments.
Moving on to the video about Chinese stereotypes.
OK.
Brie B says, are the guys wearing makeup?
Do we look like we're wearing makeup?
No, we stopped wearing makeup a long time ago.
We used to.
And I'm just like, I hate wearing makeup.
Not because it's makeup, but, like,
because you've got to take it off.
And it hurts your skin.
You've got to put it on.
I feel so bad for women out there.
You know what I propose?
What's that?
I think we all should just look natural.
I think so.
If every single person on Earth looked natural,
isn't that the best?
Dude, that's the best.
I mean, like, the thing about makeup is for women,
you know, they will never understand it.
Right.
But they feel like, OK, there's, like,
funny memes out there, right?
Like, when women put on makeup, they gain self-confidence.
And that's kind of society's fault, you know?
Like, we think that, you know, women should wear makeup.
I propose all-natural all the time.
Definitely.
So no, we're not wearing makeup.
That's a long-term answer for that.
Wait, but is that a compliment?
Because she thought?
Yeah, it is a compliment.
Because she thought we'd look better than we actually looked.
Right.
Because I'm not going to lie, when I wear makeup,
my face looks better.
I have no idea.
I don't see a difference.
It does, because it, you know, covers up the blemishes.
I don't even know the difference.
Did I say that?
No, you told the story about somebody came up to you
and was like, what village are you from?
Yeah, that's from Nepal.
But I do look Tibetan.
I look, I don't look Chinese.
No, you don't look Chinese.
I'm dark.
I'm, like, muscular.
Don't really look regular Chinese.
We're not that tall.
You definitely look like you should be a Sherpa
in the Himalayas.
Maybe I was.
Yeah, you look like you're about to, like,
take a bunch of people on a hike up to Mount Everest.
Yo, in the future, if I ever wanted to do that,
I'll just mix right in.
I just got to learn the language first.
That's true.
Shout out to all my Vancouver friends and family
and awesome people.
Because I love you guys.
I love your city.
And I hate being here.
Well, I think by now, people notice that every video you've
I think every video Mike mentions.
That's how much he loves Vancouver.
I think you've mentioned it once every video.
I do, I do.
How can I say it?
You guys got better food.
You got nicer people.
You got better climate.
I love rain.
SoRandom says,
I take it that SoRandom is from Zhejiang.
I'm not going to say she's a girl,
because you can't tell it could be a guy.
But hey, I'm from Zhejiang province.
No, you're not.
Shanghai.
What are you talking about?
Oh, yeah, you are.
Yo, I just schooled Mike in some Chinese geography, bro.
I just schooled you, bro.
I don't know what that is.
I know everything about China.
I just schooled you, bro.
I just schooled you.
You schooled nothing.
Dude, I never thought there'd be the day
where I was better than you in Chinese geography.
Go say some Chinese.
I like to stop when I'm ahead.
You know the province where you're from.
Congratulations.
If you didn't know that,
it'd be the weakest link.
This is from Asian Drinks.
Jessica Chan.
She says,
I did a report on the Great Wall of China
because I was inspired by you guys.
Yeah.
That's right, Jessica.
That's right.
Hope you started a video about the Great Wall.
Did we do a video about it?
We did.
No, it wasn't all about the Great Wall.
It was a while ago.
It was something.
Well, one of the things I remember
is that it's not actually visible from space.
That's not.
It's true.
Actually, we did do a video
because I could tell you all the facts that we learned.
And also some girl cried
and a bunch of the Great Wall just fell apart.
Yeah.
True story.
But on a serious note,
we love it when you guys are able to learn something
from what we do
and be able to apply that
to your everyday lives or school.
Absolutely.
TechnoNinja100 says,
you guys forgot aloe drink.
That is true.
I do like aloe drinks.
No, I didn't forget it
because I don't really like aloe drinks.
That's right, you didn't like it.
I love aloe drinks
because I think it's soothing.
And it's a little chewy
and it bursts of little aloe.
I love it.
Game Yong says,
I'm also a bit confused about taro.
I mean, I've seen it in bubble tea
and chewable candy and potato chips.
And when I tasted it in bubble tea,
it tastes like Oreos.
So I don't know what that thing is supposed to be.
No one knows what that thing is supposed to be.
No, let me.
All right, all right, all right.
I'm the resident taro expert
because you don't like it.
I don't like it.
It tastes like Oreos or whatever
because it's fake.
It tastes like slime.
No, it has a taste.
It's just that the taste they add to bubble tea
is not the actual taste.
And then when you eat it in candy,
like it's all artificially added.
I don't like it because I'm like,
are you a potato?
Are you a slimy residue?
What exactly are you trying to be?
Forget about the identity crisis
that it has, right?
Just know this,
when you make it into a sweet thing,
when you add sugar to it,
it tastes good.
I don't like it.
Anyway, anti-taro here.
Sorry, a lot of you probably hate me because of that,
but I don't like it.
I love actual taro and taro flavored things.
You ever ate a taro,
like what my parents do is they steam it or something
and they put sugar on it.
I still don't like it.
I like it a lot.
It makes me itch in my mouth.
It's just delicious.
All right, Asian Pop says,
hey, Mike and Dan,
you guys are so awesome.
Thank you.
By the way, I'm related to the founder of the Yo's.
Oh, it's that drink.
I know what that is.
He was my grandmother's grandfather,
AKA my great-great-grandfather.
Well, if Asian Pop person is telling the truth,
that's awesome.
You know what that's like?
Can you send us some?
Yeah, please.
That's kind of like,
someone's like, hey,
I'm related to the guy that invented Dr. Pepper.
Yeah.
Can you give us some Yo's?
Yo's.
Procrastination.
You see what she did there?
I see what she did there.
I bet you her name is Tina.
I bet you she's not going to watch this video.
No, I'm just kidding.
Just kidding.
So proud two Viet drinks made it to the top 12.
You know what?
I really do love Viet drinks.
I do.
I love Viet coffee.
I love Viet iced tea.
Yep.
And that says a lot,
because you don't drink coffee.
That's the only coffee you like.
It's the only coffee I'll drink.
Because it's sweet.
It's nice.
I like it.
Kira Inuzaki says,
wait, you mean the marble in Ramune
doesn't give the drink carbonation?
Oh my God.
I'm actually kind of ashamed of myself
for thinking that.
We got two of those comments.
Sammy Direction also says,
I was just like,
Dan, on the Ramune,
I thought the marble gave the fuzz.
Can I ask you,
because you thought that too.
How exactly does a marble give fizz?
Well, when you're young,
you know, you see something,
you, you know.
No, no, no.
But we're talking about comments.
People are still commenting now.
They're like, oh, mind blown.
It didn't give the fizz.
But how does a marble give it a fizz?
Hey, hey, you could say that
our marble was bursted after that video.
Oh!
Thumbs up for cheesy jokes.
All right.
That's, that's, that's,
that's all right.
I'll give you that.
But you know,
the marble did not give it the fizz.
Sorry to let you guys know that.
And one more about the Ramune
is from Nice Ice 365.
Oh my God, Mike.
I was the same with the Ramune.
I was like, oh, this looks so cool.
It has a marble,
but I didn't know how to open it either.
So I broke the top by burning it off on the stove
and kept the marble.
You know what?
That's some, that's some hardcore stuff.
That's hardcore stuff.
I mean, she burned it.
Like, like she, she went through
It's pretty dangerous.
poisonous fumes for the marble.
Yeah.
Like, I just broke the glass.
Like, worst I could do was, you know,
cut my finger.
But yeah, this, this girl.
Hats off to Nice, Nice.
Nice Ice.
That's hardcore.
This is from our dumpling video.
Oh yeah.
Cassandra McCallman says,
you guys are super cute.
Your videos are comical yet informative.
I'm a big foodie.
You just made me super hungry.
Well, thank you so much, Cassandra.
I'm hungry just thinking back on that video.
I mean, you know,
people were literally like staring at us
in the Fleshy Mall.
We got stared at.
We got, we got approached by two security staff.
First of all, Asian food courts
are the only food courts in the world
where they hire security, plain clothes.
They were security.
Yeah.
Just to walk around and like,
I mean, what are you doing exactly?
They were like,
and they were, they were acting like
they were like big shots.
We're like, they're coming over.
They're like, who gave you permission to film here?
Who told you you could do this?
Didn't know you needed.
You gotta come to my office and tell me beforehand.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
So unfortunately, if we don't make more from that place,
you guys know why.
Yeah, yeah.
But hopefully that doesn't happen.
Not crazy.
Okinahira says,
okay, I have never tried a Chinese dumpling.
You have convinced me.
Oh my God.
You need to try.
Well, I have to say though,
the Japanese gyozas,
they're, they're kind of like a cross between
a wonton and a potsticker.
I actually like those the best.
I'm a traitor.
Get out now.
Because you know why?
Because the skin is, is thin.
Like the ones you like-
Oh, you can't have thin Chinese dumplings.
Well, the thing is,
the ones that you like from the North,
ultimately the skins-
That's not true.
It's not like all the dumplings have thick skin.
It's just the way they're made here.
Okay, all right.
Are you trying to group all the dumplings
in the North together?
All the ones I've ever had in America were pretty thin.
Yeah, you had it at two locations.
Vanessa's and one other place.
You go to nobody for dumplings.
The dumplings you ate at the food court
was the first time you probably tried
other dumplings than Vanessa's.
I've, I've had dumplings from 10 different places
in New York.
Yeah, after the video we did.
10.
No, I don't even believe you.
Every, every single time.
Remember Vanessa's?
Because that's the only place I know.
And when I know one place,
all I go to is that one place.
I never buy dumplings from anywhere else.
Oh man.
All right, this is my friend.
She's a awesome cook.
And makes all these pretty, pretty bento boxes.
Really?
You know her personally?
I know her personally, yeah.
Okay, okay.
So, Kellerin's Cooking and Bento.
That's her actual name.
That's not her real name.
Well, don't reveal it yet.
I'm not gonna say the real name, so, you know.
Oh My God, Off the Great Wall,
Chinese Legendary Stories, Internal Love,
Best Combo Ever.
Couldn't even wait till I watched the end to comment.
Oh, this is from our Legends video.
Legends video, which I loved
because there's a lot of legendary sweet stories.
And you guys know I'm such a sap
for sweet stories and legends.
So, yeah, Best Combo Ever.
I agree.
It's like her bento box combo.
Oh, yeah.
It's everything.
Oh, yeah.
A Brush of Beauty.
I just found your channel and it's 2 a.m.,
but I can't stop watching.
Your videos are addicting.
Oh my God, I love these historical videos.
That's awesome.
I think a lot of people will probably find us at 2 a.m.
because, what are you doing at 2 a.m.?
I'm on the internet.
I'm on YouTube.
So, awesome.
Hey, look, if they found us,
there's way more things they could find at 2 a.m.
on YouTube.
That's true.
I wonder how they found us.
Is it suggested?
It's by suggestion.
Suggestion or you search and it pops up?
Well, it's funny.
They're searching.
Maybe they're searching for something.
Basically, anything to do with Asia.
I'm sure we're somewhere on the related.
So, yeah, 2 a.m.
It's a good time.
Shauna McCarthy says,
I love how these guys talk to each other.
So cute and funny.
Really?
We're kind of cute when we talk to each other.
That's good because we talk to each other a lot.
Yes.
And we tape it sometimes.
And honestly, guys,
the way we talk now,
it's actually how we talk to each other in real life.
Yeah, that's true.
A lot of people who watch us
when they see us on the street,
they're like,
you know, I take it as a compliment
because they always say this to us.
They're like,
oh, you guys are just like in your videos.
Like we're not.
Because, you know,
we've met other YouTubers
where they're nothing like that in real life.
They're kind of,
you know what I mean?
I don't know.
I don't know who he met so I'm not gonna say it.
I'm just gonna say it.
I'm just saying, you know what I mean?
We've been to a lot of, you know,
conventions and, you know.
But yeah,
this is how we usually talk to each other.
All right,
so our fan of the month for March
is gonna be
Amy Ho!
Congratulations!
Thanks, Amy!
