How to make a Feather Quill Pen
From the 6th to the 19th centuries, Westerners adopted the feather pen as their preferred style due to its small, sharp, and soft strokes.
Today, various types of pens are commonly used, such as smart pens, fountain pens, and ballpoints. In each era, the pen has a different appearance and is becoming more and more convenient, but the old styles of pens still remain. A quill pen’s appearance shows the user’s personality and soul.
In this video, Brian Allison shows you how to make a feather pen using feathers. He recommends choosing feathers that are from the left wing of a turkey or goose, as this curvature allows right-handed writers to use it comfortably. You can also submerge the feathers in water to soften them and then cut them into the desired shape using hot sand. A nice and ole style pen is easier to make with Brian Allison’s kind instruction.
