A Day In The Life With A Newborn

Alright, it's 9 o'clock. You guys saw how our night went. He woke up twice and I had to feed him. And that was fine and he did great. He went right back to sleep afterwards. It was great. So now it's time to feed him again. Let's do this. So Beau just ate on one side. He does a really good job nursing. If I can get him to nurse long enough and not fall asleep. And then usually halfway through a feeding I'll change his diaper just to kind of wake him up and stuff. But his diaper isn't super full right now so I'm going to let him hang out for a second. Can you say hi? And it's bath day so he's going to get a bath. Piper, what are you doing now? I'm doing a puzzle. Yeah, you're doing a puzzle? Looks good. What's on your puzzle? Fishies. And an octopus. Baby, you look so cute. You love baby. So right in here we have all of baby Beau's stuff in this closet. And then we have like blankets and socks and hats and pants. Things like that. So what are we going to put baby Beau in today? Look at his back hair, baby. Look at his back hair. Yeah, look at his back hair. He's got his cute little alfalfa hair. Right there. Like some of my friends have. Oh really? He's sad? He looks kind of happy to leave for now. Yeah, the bathroom's cold, baby. Okay, bath time's over. Sorry I couldn't video that but I didn't think it would be very safe to hold the camera and have a baby in the water at the same time. But he's all clean now. And he didn't even cry at all. He just sat there and took it like a baby. Okay, we got to get going. He's cold. Okay guys, now baby's all ready. You guys need to get dressed too. Okay? Okay, we're all ready to go to the grocery store. Even me, I got ready too. Yay. Baby Beau, he is ready for a nap. Alright y'all, we are back from the store already. It was good. Three kids at the store isn't as bad as you would think. My kids are pretty good. They walked the whole time which was nice. And the baby was in the cart. Yeah, and just for like reference, this is what my kitchen looks like right now. On days like today, we've got Valentine's cards that Porter took to school. We've got leftover breakfast dishes. We just made lunch. So Piper's finishing her lunch. Yeah, it's crazy all up in here. I don't really care because I know on days like this where I have the baby and groceries to do and preschool. I just took Porter to preschool. Our house is just going to be a wreck until I have like 15 minutes to clean everything up. Hey look, there's daddy. He's home. He's home early. One of his classes got canceled. Heyo. Okay, so now it is. First of all, during the day, I try to stick to a very strict three-hour feeding time. So you start feeding the baby three hours later from the start time is when you start feeding again. I try to stick to that because he will stick to that. He'll start fidgeting around three hours if I can get him on that schedule which is just really nice for me because I know when he's going to eat and know when he's going to be hungry. And I can count on that and schedule around that. Some days, I can't though. Like right now, it's almost an hour. It's almost four hours since the beginning of his last. And so I don't love when I have to do that during the day. I try to keep it very strict. But sometimes, that's how it goes. So I'm just about to sit down and feed him again. Okay, that was the end of the feeding. He does about like seven minutes on each side. I want him to do more like 15 minutes on each side. But is that awkward to say? A little awkward. I fed my children. I fed him. My turn. I always eat last. So it's about an hour after I started feeding Beau. And right about now is when he goes down for another nap. He's doing some creepy eyes. In the meantime, I am working on a blog to hopefully post today. Working on that with some Diet Coke and some pizza, my babe. All right. It is now 310 or something. I just picked up Porter from school. He had a really fun Valentine's party. And he even sang some songs for the parents. And I get home and Beau is not due to eat for another like 45 minutes. But he's awake. And I think he just has a stinky diaper. So we're changing it to diaper. You stinker. It is now time to feed Porter. Time to feed Beau again. And you know how I can tell? There's a couple things. That's how you can tell. They're searching. Searching for their milk, huh? So, yeah. One way you can tell if a baby's hungry is they're like. They're like a little fishy. Their mouth are like. Also, if you're a nursing mom, you can actually. This might be TMI. But if you're a nursing mom, you can feel your milk come in. As it's getting time to feed them again. It's a crazy sensation. We'll say. So, anyway. Time to feed them again. All day, every day. I'm telling you. Okay. Well, Piper woke up from her nap. And she is sad. I want to watch a movie. You want to watch a movie. And Bo wasn't being very settled either. What's up with you guys? A little yucky. But not too yucky. Okay. We're going to change his diaper again. Because he's just not being very happy. So, I'm going to change his diaper. His little peanut keeps making peanut butter. Oh, gross. Okay. He's still being kind of fussy. So, I'm just going to hold him. He just needs some mommy time and some not on his back time. Okay. I finally got him to settle down. Go to sleep. But he needs to eat in like about an hour. So, he only gets like an hour nap. In the meantime, I need to finish. Oh, I never set a timer on this. Whoopsie daisy. What? Get that off my face. Okay. We just had dinner. A lovely dinner with baked ziti, garlic bread, and asparagus. Somebody didn't eat all of his dinner. He still loves baked ziti. I don't know what happened. Now that we have all eaten, it is yet again time to feed the baby. Oh, are you ready? Are you ready for dinner? Okay. So, we're here at bachelor night. Because it's Monday. And so, baby Beau came with me. So, he's going to. He's so cute. So, this is part of a day in the life with a newborn. And here are all the girls. And Andrea is having twins in six weeks. So, she's going to have two babies. I cannot even imagine. So, anyway, we're just about to start bachelor. And that's what's happening. Okay. So, my camera, actually my card is full. And so, when I was at the bachelor night. And so, I'm doing this on my phone to finish off this video. I hope this video was entertaining or fun for you guys to watch. It's a pretty good idea of what you can expect from like a day with a baby. They just mostly sleep and eat and need a diaper change. But they're super cute and fun. Anyway, so I fed Beau over at the bachelor night. And so, he's all fed. And I came on home and he's ready to go back to sleep. And start the whole day over again pretty much.
