On today's 909 Adventure we visit an abandon Stone Castle Powerhouse in Upland California. The only thing that is still standing is the outer walls of this dilapidated beautiful turn of the century Castle considering that this was built in the late 1800s we were surprised as to what was still there. #909adventures #uplandca

We are back on the lazy river.
We're back for another episode of Post Atomic and I think what we got for you is going to
be pretty cool.
It's an abandoned place.
Our first, right?
Our first abandoned place?
Yes.
This will be our, yeah, our first abandoned place.
This is pretty cool.
We're here in Upland, California and we're at an old castle hydro plant.
So a hydro plant is basically, it's a water plant that supplied, I guess the current to
produce electricity.
So let me, it's right there I guess.
We were actually talking to the neighbor, there is a no trespassing sign right there,
but the guy said it was okay to go in there as long as we don't go back further to the
property that it would be fine.
So we're just going to go check it out.
I don't know if anybody can see it.
I'm not sure, but this is it, the old hydroelectric plant.
I'm sure what I described was nothing true to what a hydroelectric plant is.
Yeah, this is pretty cool and it's pretty, the ground is actually pretty marshy right
there.
It's like you're going to sink into it.
It's going inside.
This was only used for about 20 years from the research that I found online.
It's actually pretty small.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, look at, that was a door.
Oops.
The loompas.
They look like a bunch of doors.
It's the entrance of the secret garden.
Yeah, it does.
That's what it reminded me of.
Look, I think this is, I don't know, and from the other stuff that I read online too, it
said it's full of poison ivy.
Would this be the poison ivy?
Or poison oak?
Whatever, whatever it is.
We don't want to run into that too much out here in California.
Yeah, look, it looks like it's raining.
That's weird.
It's this tree right here.
Look it.
I don't know if you guys can see this on the camera, but you can see all kinds of little
water droplets.
It's like, kind of warm too.
It's like, what, 85, 90 degrees out here right now?
Watch out, there's a splash there.
Okay, yeah, you be careful too, because it's pretty marshy.
Careful with that hole, whatever that is.
I wouldn't go too much further back there, because this is somebody's property and they
don't want us to go very far back, so we're going to be respectful and honor their wishes
and this way we can continue to do stuff like this.
Well, I was going to go in.
Oh, yeah.
That's probably maybe what a part of the plant, because this was a hydro plant.
Is there something else there?
No, there's just trees.
Remnants of the past.
Yep.
There's a little castle hydro plant here in Upland, California.
Yeah, but like I was saying, it was only used for about 20 years, give or take a few years,
and then it was moved.
The plant was moved, but the structure still stood.
They call it a castle.
I don't know why they would call it a castle.
It's not very big, but maybe it's just the architecture.
I'm sure this place would be pretty creepy at night.
What do you think, Britt?
You think it would be creepy at night?
Maybe if all these newer houses weren't around, and this was like literally in the middle
of nowhere, then it would be super creepy.
This is literally in the middle of the neighborhood.
Yeah, just be careful.
You never know.
There might be snakes or something out here.
Couldn't be anything as bad as what's compared to in the desert, though.
Or any worse, I should say.
What is that?
Is that somebody's ball?
It's sort of like...
Oh, that's just a...
Yeah, see?
Too close to somebody's property.
So we're going to go ahead and start making our way out.
I think we've seen all we could see here.
You can see, like I was saying earlier, this abandoned castle, pump house, whatever you
want to call it, is right in the middle of a neighborhood.
