$10 Podgorica Veal Popeci in Montenegro - Balkan Food 🇲🇪

So right now I am in Podgorica which is the capital city of the country of Montenegro and a very very tiny capital city by any standards in Europe even. I've been here for the last almost 24 hours now I'm about to catch a bus from the bus station in a few hours but I do have some time to kill so I wanted to try out this local food which I've never heard of before and I thought I'd try it pretty much all kinds of good Balkan food because you know I've spent like six to eight months of my life in the Balkans now. See I'm right next to the city's clock tower behind me which was built in the 17th century by the Ottomans when this whole area was sort of occupied by the Ottoman and was Ottoman territory and this is like one of the few pieces of architecture that have survived in this city from the bombings of World War II and the restaurant I'm going to today is literally right in front of the clock tower right here called Podvolat. Found myself a pretty nice table outdoors. So this is the Podgorica Poketsi and this is the main meal it's basically kind of like a bread roll with veal in it but I think there's some prosciutto in there too. The outer layer or this crust is made from flour mixed with a couple of eggs and then it's basically deep fried in oil until it becomes this golden color and then on top of that it's like served with this mayonnaise on top and some other spices and I see corn and peas and I got this side which was recommended to me by a friend which is just mashed potatoes Supposed to be great all together and they gave it to me with some bread too. Time to try it out. Very juicy. That's a big piece. I don't usually like food with so much mayonnaise on it but this is really amazing. Wow the meat is so soft you know it's like a signature of like veal I guess mmm The bread is really nice too. This is so filling I don't know how I'm gonna finish this Look at that like veal or meat inside there. They also put like a lot of cheese inside it like a lot of cheese. The mashed potatoes like really working as a nice carb addition to this whole dish and of course the coke because it's so refreshing Okay here's proof that I successfully finished it. That was a lot especially the mayonnaise at the end. If there's anything I'll do differently. I love the veggies. If there's anything I'll do differently it's like put less mayonnaise on top of this. Okay so that was delicious and I'm still in an old town and found this mosque that must have been around from the ottoman era but now I'm gonna go catch the bus to Durmitor and get my laptop first from a repair service But yeah that food was great. That was 10 euros so not as cheap as it could have been but like still not bad for the service. Actually a pretty good deal for the service and the place and the taste in general.
