
9 main paintings of Sistine Chapel ceiling - 9 scenes from the Book of Genesis
Pope Julius commissioned Michelangelo for ceiling frescoes of the Sistine Chapel. The ceiling is about 14 meters wide and 41 meters long. Michelangelo, one of the three greatest painters in the High Renaissance, finished his work, including more than three hundred different figures, between 1508 and 1512.
In the center of the ceiling are nine main scenes from the Book of Genesis, including:
