The artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo was born in 1696 and died in 1770. He was a brilliant and tirelessly productive Venetian painter. His scope of work was vast, and he traveled extensively throughout Europe. He created murals, genre scenes, and historical and religious works. He was also a skilled draughtsman and etcher. His paintings are renowned for their lightness of touch, airiness, and gorgeous blue skies. He was well-known throughout Europe for his great decorative schemes. He had a busy workshop, and his less talented sons Domenico and Lorenzo often assisted him with his large murals.
