We left Florida (just for a little bit) to head north to Nashville for @KaraandNate's 100th Country Party! We had such a fun night celebrating their big accomplishment and meeting some of our own subscribers. It was our first time visiting Nashville, so we spent a day wandering around the city, trying some delicious foods (including the famous hot chicken!), and seeing some of the main sights. We barely scratched the surface, so we can’t wait to come back again, but maybe when it’s a bit warmer. :)

Welcome to a very cold and snow flurry Nashville, Tennessee. If we look miserable right now it's
because we are. We are. It's cold. Yeah. So the last time you saw us we were down in warm beautiful
sunshine Orlando, Florida but we decided to drive 10 hours north up here to Nashville for a very
special reason and that is to celebrate Kara and Nate visiting 100 freaking countries. Which is
crazy. Yeah. So Kara and Nate have been our biggest inspiration to start traveling full-time as well
as start vlogging so it was really fun to see them in person and to just celebrate their huge
accomplishment and we even got to meet a few people who watch our vlogs which was absolutely
wild. Yeah. So thank you to everyone who came and said hi to us it made our night for sure. So our
original plan was to spend the whole weekend so two days exploring Nashville but we both got a
little sick so we decided to take some time to rest so we're gonna try to do see and eat as much
as we can in one day today. And it's our first time here in Nashville so let's go. We found a
very nice spot to come warm up from the freezing cold outside. We're at a coffee shop called Crema
which has come highly recommended to us from a few different people and we got this really
interesting drink called the Lutito. It's a little orange on top of it so it's a cinnamon, hold on
I'm gonna cheat on the menu, a cinnamon and orange spice latte and it has this little I think it
looks like a candied piece of orange on top. Sounds very interesting I don't think I've ever had an orange
latte before. That's good. I don't know if I taste the orange but it's good. As I drink it more I get little tastes of
orange it's like a little a little nice little surprise. You take a sip and it's not that
orangey then you take another and then it's like hello I'm here. Nashville is known as Music City
USA and right now we are walking down Broadway which is where you can catch all kinds of live
music inside the tons of honky tonks and bars that just lie in the street. Yeah we hear this
is like a very hop and fun place to be at night but we're here at 9 30 in the morning and it's
very very quiet but that's kind of how we like it. Perfect for us. Yeah we like when things aren't
super crazy and it's snowing and cold so I think people are just kind of hanging out inside today
but it's really cool to see it without tons of crowds that we'd have to be navigating through.
If you've heard of Nashville you've probably heard of the Grand Ole Opry and this building
behind me is the Ryman Auditorium which was home to the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974.
The Grand Ole Opry is now located a little bit outside of downtown but the Ryman Auditorium is
like one block behind Broadway right in the heart of the action and you can still come here to see
shows go on tours just hang out with my guy Bill right here. So probably the most popular food to
eat in Nashville is hot chicken and the origins of hot chicken is actually I think it's a pretty
funny story. So there's this guy named Thornton Prince who's known for being kind of a ladies man
and one of his ladies had enough. He arrived home after being out all night long and she was very
mad so she decided to make him his favorite meal fried chicken but instead of making it the normal
way she decided to put anything that she had that was spicy in her kitchen in it to hopefully make
it inedible. Well it turns out he absolutely loved it and so did his brothers and anyone else that
tried it and so we opened up the first hot chicken place called Prince's Hot Chicken Shack I think is
the name. So that's the original hot chicken place in Nashville. We're actually at Hattie B's today
because they had an option that I could eat and I really wanted to try hot chicken for the first
time too. I ordered the large dark which is two legs slash thigh quarters and they're freaking
huge and I ordered the hot one so it's like nice and dark. I'm kind of nervous about it but it's
gonna be good and then I got the pimento mac and cheese with the order of crinkle cut fries.
Since I can't have fried chicken I got the grilled tenders with the hot sauce and I'm actually
surprised this looks really good. Grilled tenders aren't as exciting as fried chicken but this
actually looks pretty tasty and then I got some fries as well and a black eyed peas salad. So the
hot seasoning isn't is there's two more hotter ones above it so there's I think damn hot and then
shut the clock up and we weren't feeling that adventurous today. I think hot might be a little
bit brave for both of us so hopefully it has a bit of a kick but hopefully it's not too much
that we can't actually taste it. Oh baby here we go.
It's not like you're on fire hot but you got a nice heat in there but the chicken
super juicy hot obviously and just has great flavor and let me just get some of the skin
here back up. It's really good. It's definitely worth the wait in that long line. When I took my
first bite of the tender I was like oh this isn't too bad. It has a little bit of a kick but
my tongue is on fire now. That's really hot but the tenders are delicious. They are so juicy on
inside. They're pretty thick pieces of meat and it's so easy to just dry out chicken but this is
perfectly cooked. So like we said at the beginning of the vlog we're kind of feeling under the
weather. We're kind of stuffy so this hot chicken is the perfect heat to just kind of clear up our
sinus. So they say you're supposed to have milk after you eat spicy food so we got ice cream.
It's the same thing right? We came to one of our favorite ice cream spots in the whole world
Jenny's and they're actually based out of Ohio so they're not local to Nashville or Tennessee but
they have a bunch of locations around town and we figured we can't come here and not have Jenny's.
It's so freaking good. They even opened one in Austin so I think we see some more in our future.
We had it recently but we can't get enough so we're having it again. So I got the bramble
berry crisp and the Texas sheet cake and that one's dairy-free if you're interested in that
and then this is their awesome smelling waffle cone so like soon as you open the door to walk
in it's just like like a wave of cloud. It just hits you. It smells so good. I got the salty caramel
and then this like sweet potato marshmallow one which I have never had but it's a new flavor and
it is amazing. The girls giving my ice cream said it kind of tasted like the milk after cinnamon
toast crunch and it is really good and sweet and she said that these two would go well together.
Normally I get their like peanut butter and chocolate fleck one or they have a like a toffee
one. I can't remember the official names. They do have pints at Whole Foods. I don't know if that's
nationwide but most Whole Foods we've been to have Jenny's pints so if you're not near a scoop
shop and you want to try it go to a Whole Foods. Warning, very expensive but it's very worth it.
There's a full-size replica of Grease's the Parthenon
in Nashville of all places. It is so random but it's really cool.
So this Parthenon was originally built for Tennessee's 1897 centennial exposition. Say that
10 times faster but you can't do it but inside today there is a 42-foot recreation of the statue
of Athena and it's also the art museum. So we have a bit of a confession to make. We did something
naughty. Yeah, our friends Chris and Sarah that we've been hanging out with for the past week or so
they invited us to meet them at Jenny's and we could have gone and just hung out with them and
watched them eat ice cream but we decided to get more. So we've had four scoops each of Jenny's
today. We tried to get some different flavors this time. All are very good. It was really fun.
We were there for about three hours so now we're hungry so we're gonna go get some food and kind
of finish off our day in Nashville. We came to this place called Mas Tacos Por Favor which is
at this point in our life basically our life motto. Every day we want tacos but I found this place on
Yelp a few years ago and I've been really excited to try it and also America's sweetheart Guy Fieri,
the host of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives has been here. So I got two tacos. One is a carne molida
which has ground beef in it and this is a cast iron seared chicken taco but if you look closely
it doesn't really look cast iron seared to me so I'm kind of questioning it but
we'll give it a shot. And I also got two tacos even though I'm normally like a three plus taco
kind of girl but I'm feeling pretty full from all the ice cream today but I got the pulled pork
which has this like nice little creamy sauce on it then I also got the carne molida which has
this like green sauce on and they also have cilantro and they're on these really good looking
corn tortillas that look like they've been grilled a bit. They got a little bit of char on them feel
a little bit crispy like they might not fall apart like some corn tortillas do and the best part
about this place is that for the four tacos they're three dollars each and for all four tacos we only
paid twelve dollars. That's such a steal. First up the chicken.
The chicken's really good. Doesn't taste cast iron cooked. Kind of just tastes boiled but
it's really good flavor. The tortillas are really good. Like Catherine said they have that
that char on there. It's excellent. The salsa is really good. The onion that I added has got a
crunch and then the cilantro on there oh it works perfectly.
This carne molida one is really flavorful. In the words of the great Guy Fieri,
it's flavor town. It has it looks like it has peppers or something cooked in it.
It just has really good seasoned ground beef and then there's an awesome green sauce on top.
We had a really fun day exploring Nashville for the first time. However, I will say the weather
was pretty brutal. We tried to put on like a happy face but we were pretty cold the entire time so
we tried to have as much fun as we can but we definitely would like to come back in the future
in warmer weather. Yeah what made it worse was we kept looking at the weather app and it said the
sun was gonna come out at nine and then we look later when it's not sunny at nine and it says
eleven and then it said two and at some point we were just it's never gonna get sunny. Whatever
but tomorrow we're gonna start heading south towards Florida. We don't really know where
we're gonna stop along the way. We have some places we want to go but we're just weighing
our options. Yeah we're kind of weighing it so the next vlog will be a surprise for everyone.
We started walking away from that filming that shot and I was like put your hood on
it's so cold. Yeah so this is what I'll be looking like every time the camera's not on me today
because I don't think this is my best look but it's the warmest look I have right now. You gotta
do what you gotta do. Hopefully if you make it to the end of this vlog where maybe the scene will be
hopefully you enjoyed it and hopefully we survived.
