Stretches are super important warm-up exercises for your horse before and after the workout. Stretching also helps tone the muscles, improve power and speed, and reduce the risk of injury.
In this video, you will learn 10 Stretch Exercises that will aid in keeping horses flexible, sound, and limber before and after a challenging ride. Enjoy!
Follow these exercises:
- Stretch from nose to hips for both sides in turn.
- Bow your head over your front legs
- Pulling the tailback will help correct the spine and stretch the muscles.
- The nose to the ground will help stretch the horse's shoulders to help release tension in the neck and shoulders.
- Bend the horse's belly by bringing the hind legs closer to the front legs. It helps stretch the back, helping the pelvis rotate as desired.
- Squeeze in by pulling up with both hands. Do both sides. Will straighten your horse's back.
- Butt stretch. It helps the horse's core muscles work properly.
- Hamstring and hock. It helps horses reduce the risk of back leg injuries.
- Pull the hind legs backward. Help stretch the horse through the abdominal muscles.
- Pull the front leg forward. Give your horse a little stress relief.
