Backpacking Snowdon Day 3 Miners Track, Wild Swimming & Wet Wild Camping! + Screaming Goat Fun
Morning campers! Well despite my whinging last night I stayed lovely and cozy and
dry last night. It was really lovely and warm and I was so comfy although I didn't
sleep very well just because of the constant heavy rain that woke me up.
There was a slug in my tent this morning, like in the inner, like hello! So that was
nice. Yeah I'm just gonna have some breakfast and get packed up then I've
got a little walk around, what have I got, a couple miles on this path still? And then
I've got to walk from Penny Pass back to Llyn Gwynn on which is a few miles I
think. Good morning world! Much the same weather-wise I see. Looks like a dinosaur coming over the ridge.
Guys, it's not raining!
Hey cows! Trying not to make eye contact so I don't piss anyone off.
I'm at Penny Pass!
Made it down!
I'm just stopping here in this
beautiful place to make some food and thinking about yesterday and the
Watkin Path and yeah I think I want to do it again. As much as at the time I was
questioning my life choices I did it and I actually I can't believe me with my
fear of heights and my clumsiness and my ditziness I actually I did the Watkin
Path. I love it the next day after you do stuff like this and like the fears
worn off and you're just like yeah that's really cool so yeah amazing and
I'm loving being out today like the weather's really it's a lot better it's
not sunny or anything but it's pleasant and I'm thinking I might stay out another
night we'll see we'll see what the afternoon holds I feel quite warm so I
might even try a little wild swim I feel like I do with waking up a bit so
yeah loving life. The Watkin Path by the way if you've got fear of heights if
you're new to mountains it's not a path I would start with it's really really
scary and it's more dangerous than the other paths I mean obviously all
mountain paths have an element of danger about them that's what makes it fun but
this one more so so just be mindful it's makes it weird.
It's so pretty isn't it?
I can see Llyn Gwynn on over there that's what we're aiming for for
tonight. Absolutely drenched just sitting in a cave trying to get my hands to dry out so that I can eat something.
Check this out.
It's cool isn't it?
Look at that.
That is so cool.
Oh my god that's so freaky.
Donny Darko isn't it?
I'm going to take that home.
It's wild boar.
So I'm going to pitch here in this little clearing
with views over the lake
over there.
Lovely.
I'm going to get water.
I'm unbelievably excited to get in the tent
and get dry.
Getting into a tent
dry
everything wet is in the vestibule
everything in the tent is dry
I'm dry
apart from my hair
which is getting a chill.
Yay.
Jesus Christ.
Do you think they're upset
that I've got their mate Steve
at the front of my tent?
Hi guys. So I thought I'd share with you
three things I've loved having
with me for this backpacking trip
in the rain.
So the first is talc.
Talc has been amazing
just for drying myself off
like my hands, my feet and stuff
when I go to bed.
So that's been great.
Trekking poles have been awesome
for the river crossings
and things like that
and just generally getting about
would have been quite difficult
without trekking poles
and the microfiber cloth as well
has been brilliant.
So this has been my second little backpacking trip
and I've loved it despite the weather
being really challenging
but that's all part of the fun I think.
I love these little trips
I just feel like they satisfy
a primal survival instinct
in me that goes unseen to
in normal life.
Like ordering to food shopping
is not quite the same is it?
Yeah I love it
and I hope I get a good night's sleep tonight
because I'm really tired.
One more night and home in the morning.
This map is pretty knackered now
but hopefully you can make it out.
So we've done the full circular route again.
Love it.
So we started there at Llyn Gwynedd
came past the lake
cut across this corner
went and visited these waterfalls
this is the
walking path
and we camped
around here I think
oh there I think it was there
that's on the first night
and then on the second day
we
summited Snowdon
by the walking path
which is terrifying
and then came down
by the miners track
and oh I camped
on miners track
about here off the path
and then today
came along miners
so you go across that bridge there
across the water
down to Penny Pass
so then came down
from Penny Pass
following this path here
went down
visited a little waterfall
I did some swimming I think that's around here
and also visited these waterfalls
came back onto the path
and just followed the river along
I had to cross over
fences up and then come back over the river
and then come back down
and we camped
tonight up here somewhere
so yeah
it's been amazing again
goodnight wild ones
see you in the morning
good morning guys
I had such a nice sleep last night
I think over 8 hours
I fell asleep before 10
and I woke up just before 6
so yeah amazing
I really needed that
so yeah still raining
looks like I'll be packing up
in the rain
I'm excited to get home
see my little man
and actually I'm just excited to have reception again
I've not had any since
well the whole time I've been here
so apart from up Snowdon
I was able to let people know I was up there safe
but since then nothing
so yeah
it's so nice being in a tent in the rain
I just wish I didn't have to pack it up in the rain
the valley looks so pretty
all the clouds coming through it
I'm ready to go actually
I just don't want to move
back to reality
home time friend
goodbye camping place
me and Steve
we're off home now
I'm really happy with how that went
considering the weather
all that awful rain
I had three really dry
nice comfortable nights
and yeah what an adventure it's been
it's been amazing
so if you want to do stuff like this
hopefully in better weather than what I just had
just make a start to it
buy something really small
a water filter, a pair of hiking socks
just something
so you're starting on your little journey
and if you've got the stuff already
give it a go
start planning it
and you know I'm not going to lie
sometimes it's really hard
sometimes it's scary
and sometimes it is downright unpleasant
but it's also amazing
and exhilarating and beautiful
so if you can get yourself through the tough bits
I think you'll be rewarded tenfold
and it's totally worth it
and you know unless you're a hobbit
adventure's not going to come to you
you've got to make it happen
so do it and find out what you're made of
you'll have an amazing time
thank you so much for watching guys
I'm going home
I will see you next time
bye
