As you know, we've already shown a video
on how to use a ratchet strap.
Well, stay tuned for a few moments.
We'll show you how to use the large commercial one,
and we've also got a great product that we want to show you
that makes it all so easier,
both the store and to use the strap.
Stay tuned.
Well, this is one of the large commercial-style
ratchet straps, and some people think
the devil invented these, but not really.
Once you understand what these are doing,
they become very dependable tools
that'll secure a heavy load and keep you safe on the road.
Well, the basic idea of these is that you're gonna have
a hook to affix it to the side of your cargo bed.
So we'll do that right here, and now we're affixed there.
The way to do these is the handle always goes up.
Now, notice when you do that,
in the middle here, there is a cylinder.
We're gonna put that right in the slot,
and when you bring it through from the bottom,
you simply go back out the other side.
And when you do, you pull in the direction
of the other side of the attachment and just feed it back.
Once you're at this point here,
then you're simply gonna bring it forward
and start rotating.
Now, the reason that you're going to pull it through
is you only need a little bit of material right here
for it to cinch up correctly.
If you allow that to wrap several times,
you're gonna bind up the unit,
and it's gonna be an unpleasant experience.
You'll probably give up on it.
All right, once we're at this point here, it's secure.
As you can see, I'm really crushing the box.
This is just a illustration box.
But now you got a problem.
What do you do with all of this material?
You cannot let this just blow out
as you go down the highway.
There's a couple dangerous things.
One, it can get caught under the tires you're driving down
or the drivetrain, and some severe damage can happen.
Or it can end up flying into the window.
So you gotta secure this.
So there's a couple ways you can do it.
You can spend some time doing this kind of thing,
bowing it up, and then doing some kind of loop like this.
And that can work.
But I found a great product out there
that really solves two problems.
Number one, storing this before you're gonna use it
so it's easy to use when it comes time to use it.
And number two, taking care of all this.
Well, let's look at the Strap Caddy.
The Strap Caddy is a simple and ingenious device.
It's comprised of two sides that are sewn together
that'll come apart like this.
And when you do that, you'll see that there is a pocket
right through here or a slot
that you can insert the end of the strap.
Once you do that, this gives you a place
to put the entire ratchet section and the excess tail
and you can close it up afterwards and keep it safe.
It also works as a stowage device
so that it's ready for work next time.
Well, let's go ahead and install it.
Okay, we've gone ahead and installed the Strap Caddy.
You'd simply put the short end through the slot in the end
so it's ready to go.
The handle is up.
And notice that there is one twist in the strap.
You always wanna do that to eliminate wind noise
as you go down the road.
So if it's flat, it'll buzz real bad,
but if you twist it, it'll eliminate that noise.
All right, so now we're gonna go ahead
and put this in over here.
Take the slack out and do your crank.
And that's good enough for this sample load.
Close.
Now you can take this whole area, partially close it here,
and then simply take the tail that's left,
fold it into a section.
Now, if you wanna take time to do some loops
or to put the line in a way that'll deploy a little easier,
but the point is you can stow it all in here.
And now the bag will cover it.
And there you go.
Now, all of this is secure and this end piece
won't be beating the side of your truck or passerbys
as you drive by them.
Well, we think the Strap Caddy is a great little product.

that are typically used for doing trailering of small loads.
