Visiting the BIGGEST FLEA MARKET (LA PULGA) in Laredo Texas

Hey there you guys, my name is Eduardo Arroyo and today we'll be spending our day at La Pulga 359 in Laredo, Texas. So what exactly is La Pulga 359? Well La Pulga 359 is simply a market here in Laredo, Texas where you can find a lot of different things. In Spanish Pulga means flea. You put two and two together and you get flea market. Flea markets can be found all around the world but maybe called differently such as market square, bazaar and many different others. They have evolved from many years back into what they are today. Today we'll be visiting one of the most famous pulgas here in the city. Like I said before, La Pulga 359, we'll be talking about where it is, how you can get here, when is the best time to come here, what can you find and what is there to do. We just got here at La Pulga 359 and the very first thing that I noticed, the first observation that I made was that there's a lot of cars. I thought we were getting here like super early, it's about like 8.30 in the morning but no, there's actually so many cars and I was actually surprised that we were able to find a parking spot because there are just so many people right now. Right now you can see all this section is taken. We parked like on the other side where there's not a lot of cars right now but I'm sure it's going to get packed as the day goes on. Another thing that I noticed is the fact that there is no concrete. As you can see there's no concrete, there are no guiding lines to tell you where you can park and where can you not park. So I don't know how they keep things organized, it's very interesting. It's definitely different from what you see in your everyday mall or any other store that you might frequent. Like I said, there's a lot of cars, it goes all the way over there and it loops around. Right now, I'm sure you can't see right now but we'll go over there in a little bit and show you that. Alright you guys, we're still here at the parking lot and like I mentioned before, the parking lot extends a great distance. We were here at the beginning at first and right now we're here at the end of the parking lot. Here is where it loops around. You can see there's a lot of cars over there. It's not full right now but it's going to get fuller as the day goes on. Right now is a really good time to be here. It's around 9am in the morning so it's the perfect time to come find a spot and then look around. Wow you guys, it's a lot of trash right now. There's like a bear right there. That's what global warming is doing to our species here on earth. So now that we know that La Pulga is just a flea market here in Laredo, now we need to know how can we get here, where is it located and when is the best time to come. La Pulga 359 is located along the outskirts of the city of Laredo. You take highway 359 which takes you to the city of Heavenville and you'll find your way here. La Pulga is open on the weekends and Sunday is the time where most of the stalls are active and therefore that's when most people show up. However, La Pulga also opens on Wednesdays and you might be thinking, well that's a weird time for it to be open because most of the students are in school and most of the people have jobs. Well, you're right. However, that's the time where people come here to buy in bulk. That's for resellers to come here, buy some items and then resell that merchandise somewhere else. So what is there to do at La Pulga? Well there are many things you can do here. One of the things you can do is shop for clothes and accessories to complete your wardrobe, find affordable toys for the young ones in your family, take a look at the stalls that sell movies and video games to keep yourself entertained, find many different food items and snacks like we've seen and many, many, many more things. So what should we do first? There's so many things to do. I think for now I'm just going to walk around, see what I find interesting and come back whenever I find something that I think is worth mentioning. Buying clothes at La Pulga can be a very good alternative than buying clothes at let's say a mall or at the actual brick and mortar stores from the brand. Stores like this also sell essentials that don't actually need to be branded such as socks, underwear, undershorts and other items like fauce. And I think this is a good alternative if you want to spend your money on shirts and jackets instead of things that people actually don't see. There's a lot of different stores that sell clothes guys. That's the number one thing that they sell here and as you can see there's a lot of different stores that sell clothes and they sell for like women, for young people, for little kids and for adults. They also sell shoes as you can see here and we'll see other stores that specialize in like selling shoes. So look guys, this store specializes in selling shoes and here it tells you like all the different brands that they carry and you can see all the bigger brands like Under Armour, Nike, Adidas, Puma and all those things in the bottom. Shoes for 15 bucks or for 5 bucks. You know how Toys R Us just went down under? Well, I can say that Laredo didn't actually really need Toys R Us because we have La Pulga. There's a lot of different stores that sell toys for the little ones. As you can see they're pretty good quality and they would make the day of any of your little cousins, your little brothers or whoever you may want to give it to. There's a lot of variety here. You can find toys for the little ones, toys for your girlfriend, toys for bigger kids and anything in between. It's really crazy. You can find toys of athletes. That's pretty cool. And you don't have to spend a lot of money in actual store brands, you know? Look at that you guys. That's me. That's my rig. I'm pretty sure that's why people are looking at me weird when I'm walking around. Okay, let's get out of here. Hey there you guys, so look at what I found. If you're feeling extra patriotic today, you can come here and also buy like huge American flags. I don't know how much these would be in the actual stores but I'm sure these can be very very cheap here. I don't know if it's like to see in the future or see through people's eyes or anything like that but I might buy it. Wow you guys, look at this. This is insane. They literally have like anything you might imagine for electronics or accessories for your electronics. They have video games, they have movies, they have cases, they have headphones, they have a lot of different things. Walkie-talkies even. These here are speakers, all of that and you can actually find VR headsets here. I didn't know I was going to find that here but like you see here, virtual reality here at the Pulga. We're adapting to the new times you guys. This is nuts. In this store you can also find video games. These are for the Wii, you can find for Xbox, for Playstation, even for PC and there's different kinds, different varieties so this is a good place to come by if you want to add these to your collection or simply buy any other games that you haven't played before. In here there's a lot of stores that actually sell a lot of household items. I couldn't begin to describe like what they sell here. I can see bike tires, I can see like toys, like car toys for the kids. I don't know what this is, it's like a slow cooker or something. There's air conditioners, there's a speaker right there, there's chairs over there and there's a piano right there. There's a table right here. There's like very different things that people can buy for their houses. So for these you need to have a very good eye and spend a lot of time just trying to look for something that you might want. Some places they sell things that you might find like random like these Chinese like decoration things. I don't know why you would want these. Maybe you celebrate the Chinese New Year and you want to do some sort of like decorations like Christmas but for Chinese New Years. Well you can come here. This store right here also sells like household items. I can see like a coffee maker, a little fan, a bigger fan. You can also find stuff for your dogs or for your pets. So one of the things that I noticed is that a lot of these shops or stores they sell like a variety of things and this is to kind of differentiate because if you only sell one thing well you're only going to have like a specific group of people that come to your place. But if you have like so many things like this store they sell like toys right there, they have fans, they have bedding for your bed, they have stuff for your pets like you saw before then you're going to have more people who are interested in all the different things that they sell here. I think that's the strategy that they're using but I think it's effective but there's a lot of competition. So I'm walking around you guys and I see this little cart right here and there's a lot of different like market stalls that sell snacks but I think this one is very unique because it's like a golf cart that's been adapted into a snack delivery cart. I think it's very unique. I think this guy is ahead of our times. Look at it. Really cool. You can get coffee too. That's pretty cool. I've been walking for a while now so I think this is a very good point to stop and grab a snack. As you see there's a lot of different places where you can grab snacks. Some places you have to go to them. Some places come to you like that one behind me. And you know how in some expensive stores you can get wine to elevate your shopping experience where this is kind of like the same concept except that it's way cheaper and I don't know. I prefer it to be honest. Bubble gum. Chicle. Una de chicle. So I've shown you places where you can get snacks. Right now I'm feeling like getting a nice popsicle. This one is bubble gum. I hope that it's tasty and we're going to continue looking around. I'm getting kind of hungry. I sure wish I was near a place that sold some good food. Oh what's that? Oh look. I was on joke by the way. But yeah. Here's a place where you can get something to eat. You can get something that fills you up like a torta or like tacos or something smaller. I don't know exactly what they have but I'm sure they have different things that you can get. They also have drinks. So if you only want to buy a drink you can do that if you so want to. But yeah. This is what I got. I got a torta. This is a very traditional Mexican dish. It's basically a sandwich. You put anything you want inside of it and you eat it. You can grab it on the go or you can stop and eat it right now like we are doing it. But a coke. Not a sponsor. And some jalapenos to accompany it. So what are some of my final thoughts on La Pulga? I think La Pulga is a great place to hang out with your family or friends during the weekend. You don't necessarily have to buy anything. You simply can walk around, grab a snack and see what if you like something then go for it. But you don't have to. Another thing is that you can also find very specific things if you're looking for something cheaper that you couldn't find anywhere else. Whether or not you find what you're looking for depends on how good you are at looking for that thing and also having patience because like I said there's a lot of different stores that you can look at and they have a lot of different things so it might take you a while before you find something that is worth buying. Anyways you should look at this as a good experience to just walk around, chill and spend some time with your friends or family. Would I recommend it? I would say definitely this is a great place to come if you're ever in Laredo. You don't have to buy anything like I said. Just be patient, wear comfy shoes and have a good time.
