Published 29–May-19 Taking the backroads to Austin, Texas, I discovered a charming town of 23,000 residents named Corsicana. Corsicana was put on the map in 1894 when oil was discovered while a search was underway for water. Turned out is was Texas’ first commercially significant oil field. To me, this is the essence of Vanlife. Discovering quaint towns and learning history and culture of places that I would likely never visit through traditional travel means, that would be by airplane + hotels.

On my way to Austin, I discovered a little town on the way called Corsicana, Texas.
Famous for the first major commercial oil field discovered in Texas. Enjoy!
All right so that was interesting that Steve, owner of JP's Antiques, gave me a whole bunch
of information here about Corsicana, Texas. Never even heard of it before. Apparently
this is where Bonnie and Clyde, of Bonnie and Clyde fame, Clyde was born in the area just a
few miles that way and grew up in this area. Unfortunately he said there's nothing there
to see but this is the area that he grew up in. So extremely cool. Also Willie Nelson is
from this area which is something I did not know about. So again another reason why we're doing
Go Small to Live Large. There's no way I would be in Corsicana, Texas if it wasn't for this
whole adventure. So thanks Steve. Really give you a shout out there buddy for the information
and let's keep moving.
Steve said this is the place to go so let's check it out. So I ordered the avocado toast
with chickpea. That's pretty righteous looking. Let's have a bite. It is amazing.
