BAREFOOT BRITAIN - Episode 13.
Good morning. This morning's video is on the move because I'm in a bit of a mad panic because I'm
running late. Well I'm not running late at the moment, I'm walking late trying to get myself
eased into the day because today is going to be madness. It's my last day in a very very long week
so I've run 110 miles this week and I've got another 23 to go to finish up at Newcastle today
and I'm actually finishing up at the AA call centre because they have been amazing and super
supportive and so I've got this rolling mix-up of runners joining me. So there's some joining me
at Bly, there's some joining me at North Shields, there's some joining me on the Newcastle Quay side
and then a few perhaps along the way as well so I've got no idea what to expect.
Come on Newcastle, we're the tooooon!
Finally I've made it, I've met up with the AA.
Lads, lads, lads, lads, lads, lads, lads. We've got some mad action going on.
We are in Bycargrove, yeah!
So Simon is just epitomising being ready for anything
because he's been ready for the backpack to be thrown on his back.
That was just adding a bit of bird poo to my repertoire
of different types of animal faeces I've had on the soles of my feet.
This is it.
Oh look at all these shiny people.
I'm very pleased to be at the end of the day. That's spurred me on proper for the last few miles.
Happy days. I can have a bit of a rest now. I'm in a sausage roll.
I've been reunited with Barry.
I've just realised our first problem.
Normally we would be pitching this tent, we'd be putting it in the grass, wouldn't we?
Right, that is a slight problem.
I get a lot of questions about why my toenails are black and yellow.
Apparently they are the right colour actually for some of the towns that I've run through
so they got very excited.
But no, they are black and yellow for the AA, in honour of the AA
and in honour of their support of this journey which has just been phenomenal.
This is not usually where I would pitch my tent for tonight
but right now this is my five-star palace and I am so ready for a lay down and a day off.
Good night.
How are the feet holding up?
The feet are like panther paws. They absolutely are.
I mean, I don't know, what did you expect my feet to be like when you slept?
Well, people did expect them to look like hobbit feet.
Yeah, did you think I'd have a lot of hair on the top?
Yeah, hairs, blisters, cuts, scrapes, scratches, everything going on.
Yeah, no, it's amazing.
They're just, I think of them, yeah, like paws, like animal paws.
They're getting thicker and thicker and thicker
but they're not actually getting too hard and crusty.
And I have the odd cuts but they tend to heal up quite quickly.
But I think if you do Google unicorn versus robot rainbow, they will pop up.
Only with this lovely girl in heels wearing them, but yeah.
Oh, thank you so much, Tracey.
Thank you for coming.
Thank you for looking after me, honestly.
It's been amazing.
Thanks for all the nosh and the good chats.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
You've set the bar for all the other call centres now.
That's it.
Can they live up to it?
Thank you so much.
Bye.
