BAREFOOT BRITAIN_ Episode 2.
Good morning. Today is the day I start the run and I am really, really nervous,
but I've got to get out and run 2,620 miles. Everyone is gathering now, getting ready for
me to start, and nerves is turning to excitement. I'm so excited. When there's really nice energy,
it's actually really nice to have people distracting me from thinking about what on
earth I'm about to do. Okay. One. There we go. 2,620 miles across Britain in my bare feet.
Stop pushing on now. Bye. See ya. That is it. Thanks. Thank you. I really actually need a wee,
so I'm going to spend the next 20 minutes waiting for everyone to leave so I can go for a wee.
I think it's just starting to hit me now what I've got to do for the next five months.
Good morning. Start of another day. I am so tired for a change. I must have slept for about 10
hours, but I feel like I could sleep for another 10. In fact, I feel like I could sleep for a
thousand years at this point. I'm just a little bit worried about this little cut I've got on my
foot that I cut it a few weeks ago, and it keeps just opening up, so I think I might put a little
bit of tape on it just to cover and stop it bleeding. Right now, start of the run, I do not
want to get any, any infection. I've just stepped in a massive bit of sheep shite and it's gone
right between my toes. Just need to stop to do a little bit more first aid. My, uh,
my bandage on my toe is not doing particularly well in all the wet, and then I've got this other
new one as well. I don't know where that's from. Why didn't I bring scissors in my first aid kit?
Such an idiot. I need to cut this tape up because I think it's the only thing that's going to stay on
my toes. I haven't got my blimmin' scissors. I've used my teeth on it. I'll have to do.
That is the end of today's run at Midyell. Absolutely pooped. My hips are aching, my knees
are aching. That was 18 miles by the coasts. Oh my goodness me, I am so pleased to be here,
and I'm staying with Kim tonight, and I'm giving a talk to the brownies.
I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've been running along the road, but the tarmac is
really, really sharp, so I thought, fine, I'll cut off and run in the fields,
but that is really, really slow, and I've just caught my toe, which is killing me.
I was really, really worried last night because yesterday was just a 10 mile run, but my toe,
my left toe that I caught in the bog the other day, it just swelled up, and last night it was
this pulsating thing, so I thought I would just see what I feel like in the morning,
and I've woken up, and it's gone down. This is awesome. I was trundling along,
thinking about how sore my feet are, and how I'm probably going to need to take a day off tomorrow,
and then this lone figure appeared at the top of the hill. It's Janice.
And she's right cheered me up with some chat. My name is Anna McNuff.
Okay, Anna, I am joining you on this crazy running mission that you set yourself.
That was right in my path. I do not want to step on that. I'm so annoyed. I ran a mile
in the wrong blimming direction. I wasn't paying attention. I really am very, very,
very tired. It's just so hard, so hard every day. I knew it was going to be hard,
but I didn't think it'd be this hard. I've got two days off now. Anyway, I'm going to have a sleep,
and I think I'm not stopping. I'm not stopping.
