BAREFOOT BRITAIN_ Episode 8
This is Alan the Welder. I'm sure that's your official superhero title.
My name is Alan Moffat and I'm walking up here in Bucky and I recognise you without your dreamers on.
Alan the Welder. What a legend. Absolute dreamer.
Have a hug. Have a hug, Alan. Have a hug.
He just called me, hey, you, without your shoes on. I've seen you on the telly.
I was like, yes, Alan. And he was so complimentary.
Absolute legend. Really enjoyed his company for those few minutes.
Brightened me up for this final push on to Cullen.
Today is officially a good day. Finally.
I'm feeling like in the last few days something has just shifted.
I'm in Cullen on the Aberdeenshire coast and I am just finally feeling like I have found my feet, literally.
And today I'm running to Macduff, which is kind of like MacNuff.
So I'm pretty much running to my hometown, Macduff Massive.
Oh, my days. Where have I been for the past month?
I just feel incredible. I'm back to myself.
God, it's mad. I can't explain it.
I mean, who knows? Today could end up being a disaster. But right now, I just feel like I've woken up.
Amazing. So good to be back. So good.
I'm running down the road and I've just gone, whoa, look at these trees. Look at them.
Wow. That's nice. Look, I'm by the side of the railway track. Shame I'm a little bit too old to go on it.
The last two days I ran a 17 mile day and then a 24 mile day yesterday.
And there's just no dramas. Just not wanting to disturb everything because everything is going really well.
But just hope this day is like yesterday. So fingers crossed.
Sometimes I make good decisions and sometimes I make stupid ones.
The beach is over there that I want to be on.
And then I saw this patch of reeds in between and I thought it looks like they're just reeds,
but that normally means it's wet. And I thought, well, let's see how it goes.
And I managed to get halfway until I went up to my knee in a stream.
And then there were stinging nettles everywhere. Bad move, Macnuff. Bad move.
The reeds did not defeat me. Onto the beach. Oh my goodness.
I just love running along beaches.
This is just dreamy. I've got nothing behind me except sand and sea.
Nothing in front of me except sand, sea and Aberdeen.
Absolutely love it.
