Hey guys, welcome back to my channel and welcome to the first of many decorate with me videos for
Christmas. I can't believe I'm even saying that. I can't believe it's November.
We woke up to a giant snowstorm outside. There was like six inches of snow,
so I feel very festive. I feel like it's Christmas and it's time to start decorating.
So today I wanted to start in my family room and we're going to be decorating my mantle,
but before we get to decorating, I wanted to do a DIY on this here ginormous Oh Holy Night sign.
The reason I am here by this is because I wanted you to see how big this actually is. I paid around
$3 for the print of this. We'll get into those details in a minute. Um, but again, for the price
and how large it is, this would be a great statement piece for anywhere in your home
for Christmas. And you can make this your own. You don't have to do Oh Holy Night. You can do
really whatever you want. Before we jump into decorating the mantle and doing our DIY project,
this video is sponsored by Chitta. And I am so excited to show you guys this new furniture
piece that we got. It has been the furniture piece that everyone in my family fights to sit in. So
I'm going to turn the camera around and show you guys our new furniture piece. And thank you again,
Chitta for sponsoring today's video. This is the Tracy swivel glider recliner, and we love the
color of the faux leather. So that's the one that we chose. They have a variety of colors and
different textures. So if you want a cloth chair, they do have those as well. I wanted to show some
of my favorite things about this chair. I love that it swivels. You can imagine how much fun
our children have on this chair. These buttons are to recline your chair back and forth, and it is
really smooth. You're not going to launch out of your chair. It's a really slow and smooth recliner.
So I really love that. And then it also has a USB port for you to charge your phone. And I love
that they have that feature because I'm always needing my phone charge. And it's so convenient
that it can be plugged right into your chair. Some other features that I love about this chair
is the pillow that it has at your lower back. It's great for support. The arm cushions are really soft.
The entire chair is so comfortable. And like I mentioned earlier, my kids actually fight to sleep
in this chair. That's how comfortable this chair is. So we have loved this chair and I know that
you would too. It's great for all home spaces. And again, they have a variety of colors for you to
choose from that would fit with your space. This chair was super easy to assemble. It literally
came in two pieces. We just stuck the top onto the bottom and that was it as far as assembly goes.
I'm so happy to share that they are actually running a Black Friday special right now. So you
can save up to $450 off their website. They offer free shipping and they will ship it out as soon
as one week. I will be sure to have this linked below. So make sure you click on that in my
description box. And again, you can save up to $400 by shopping on their website during their Black
Friday sale. Moving on to the DIY. So I picked out this board from Home Depot. I will have the
measurements below, but it was a few dollars and I tried to get one that was basically the right
size. I got the Oh Holy Night printed at Office Depot and it was $3 and like 25 cents if I can
remember right. I found a tutorial on Pinterest that kind of walked me through this. So I will
have that linked below as well. But to get one this size, I believe I just selected a blueprint
and then I uploaded this sheet of music and I made sure that it fit the entire page. I will
have better detailed instructions listed in my description. Make sure you read that if you need
more steps with how to do this. But basically I am just going to mod podge this onto the board.
It gets really wrinkly, but I kind of wanted it to look like that. I wanted this to look like an
old music sheet. That was the goal here. So after I had it mod podged on, there were a few things
that I tried and I really messed it up. So what I found worked for me was I actually just tea
stained this and you guys have seen me do this in previous videos. If you've watched some of my old
content before, I got a few bags of black tea, used the sponge brush, and then I just kind of
brushed it on. And then I went over each section with a dry cloth and I kind of dabbed a lot of
the moisture off just so it wasn't like ruining the whole paper. I just wanted some of the brown
stain to be left on there. So I'm just showing you the technique I used. I did start in like
smaller sections just to see if it was going to work and I did like how it was looking. So I just
kind of covered the entire thing and again, dried it off with a dry cloth. The only other thing that
I used for this was one by twos and I got these at Home Depot as well. These are like a dollar or
two. This is a very inexpensive way to make a large statement piece for your home. If you're
looking for something for Christmas especially and you don't want to spend a bunch of money,
this was such an easy DIY. Thomas did one extra step and he made a little split down the center
of the wood just to slide the board into. But again, that's definitely not necessary. If you
have some kind of staple gun, even a hot glue gun, if that's all you have, you can still do
this project. So you're going to just cut the boards to size. Color stain we used was rare
smoke and I only used that because we had some on hand. But I really love how this turned out. I
feel like it fits perfectly on my mantle. What I was kind of going for this year was more of like
old vintage cottage vibes. So last year I had my big Jesus picture up. I love my Jesus picture,
but I wanted my mantle to feel more old cottage style. And that print is a very new bright white
print. And so I wanted something more distressed up there that was still representing the whole
meaning of Christmas. And that's why I chose this song versus something else. But anyway,
that's kind of the vibe I was going for this Christmas. So let's get into decorating the mantle.
