This post has been a long time coming... For the past few months or so, I've had the strongest impression we needed to do something, and the original thought of doing this scared me to death. When I came to Thomas with the thought I kept having, I knew he would think I was crazy but was so surprised when he was 100% on board. As weeks passed, The thought continued to weigh on my mind to the point I was losing sleep over it because I kept ignoring the promoting. But after many prayers🙏🏻 and serious contemplating these last few months, we have decided to put our house up for sale🏡 and instead dedicate the majority of our income to service, adventures with our family and helping others. .
The trials we have been through these last few years have taught us time and time again the most important thing in our life aren't "things". No amount of money💵 or fancy things can replace quality time and memories made with others as well as being the Lords hands and helping his children in any way along this not-so-easy-journey we call life. We've felt a responsibility more than ever before to use our income to bless the lives of others, even if it means sacrificing the nice things we currently have and know we can make a difference in this world (even if it's a small one!) We understand there will be people talking badly🗣 about this decision or badly about us, but this was something we were led to do and we don't want to keep putting it off regardless of what others may say or think. .
This home was truly an incredible blessing. It was something we never in a million years imagined we could have accomplished let alone on a work-from-home salary! So many memories were made in these walls, but we're ready for our the next chapter📖 in our life! We have NO idea what He has in store for us, but we know it's nothing we can't handle together! .
So Here's to a simplified life, less things, more adventures🚀 and spreading love and goodness to more lives than we've ever imagined! 💖 #BlessedToBeABlessing

Don't see me.
Don't.
You notice how I know she's going through my,
for my throat?
What was that?
What's up guys.
Welcome back for Cut 37 of Hanging with the Hughes.
Me and Ashley have a really special announcement today.
We've actually decided that.
Well, it's been a long time coming,
but we felt that we are supposed to
put our house up for sale and we're gonna move somewhere
a little more simple and.
We're gonna move out of the Hughes crib.
Yeah, basically that's what we're gonna do.
And I think actually, as you watch this,
the house will be up for sale
because it's gonna go up for sale this Friday.
So.
Yeah, Friday.
Friday.
Yeah, Lindy told me.
She's our realtor.
She's awesome.
So.
We're really excited about it.
We don't know why we're supposed to move,
but it's definitely an answer to a prayer.
So we are supposed to.
And we have made the decision.
We're gonna dedicate more of our life
for the next few years to helping and giving back.
We've always known that like
what makes us happy is giving back.
Ashley asked me to make a list a while ago
that was like this little drill we decided to do.
And it was what makes you happy?
On the list Ashley asked me to make,
I had things like my family, the gospel of Jesus Christ,
my wife, quality time, giving back to people.
You know, I found that those are the times
that I'm the happiest.
And then she asked me to make another list
that was what I spend my money on.
And the things that I spend my money on
had nothing to do with the things that brought me happiness.
So it just really makes you think like
why spend money on things that don't make you happy?
Like for example, my car that I drive
isn't something that makes me happy.
So I made the decision to get a less expensive car
that's like less maintenance,
that is more a car that my family can enjoy.
Like things we could do in it.
Like we could go on adventures in it.
We could do and make more memories in that car
than I ever could in my Mercedes.
So I decided to sell my Mercedes
and buy a 97 Land Cruiser, which is sick by the way.
Like that car actually makes me happy
and the AC barely works, so weird.
Yeah, that's true, the AC barely works.
But yeah, we've just felt that
this is what we're supposed to do.
So our vlogs are gonna be very different starting now.
I think what we would love for you guys
to come along the journey of us finding a new house.
We're gonna probably do a lot of work to it
because we're gonna just look for something
little and simple and just fix it up
and then go and help people.
Yeah, we're excited.
Like there's this,
there's kind of like the words that come to our mind
are like simplify and minimalist type.
You know, not so extreme,
but we just realize like things that don't make us happy,
like television, cable, you know,
things like that aren't things that excite us.
So like, we're just gonna minimize and downsize quite a bit
and dedicate more of our life and our money
to making a difference and trying to help them as we can.
So we're really excited for you guys
to watch this whole journey with us
because it's not exactly easy downgrading,
but I think we can make it work.
Cut!
I wanna say mucus, but that's not right.
It looks like mucus.
Oh, I can't remember.
Algae?
Oh yeah.
Could that be what it was?
Algae.
My favorite skeleton.
Just drippin' sweat.
6 a.m. cardio for an hour,
did my weight training,
and then I went and hit mitts with Lucas for an hour
in heavy bag,
and now I just carried like 350 pounds
from my basement gym up.
Those are cool shoes.
Dude, Benchani's game is on point lately, huh?
What happens, dude?
Remember when I said you can come in average
with a 5mm hanger?
Benchani hangs around quite a bit.
I actually see him all the time.
Every day we drive by during the day,
we see these kids out playing in the sprinkler
on the main road on the side,
so we're gonna go buy him a sprinkler head,
like a cool one that's like fancy,
because all the ones they have
are just like little metal ones,
but I guarantee it'd be way more fun
if I get him water guns, too,
but I can't find sprinkler heads.
I'm finding a bunch.
I wanted to find one of those sprinkler things,
because then we could use it like all the time.
These would be cool, right, Johnny?
Do you see that little kid?
Yeah.
With the whoopee cushion?
Yeah.
We just thought we'd get him like water balloons
and some sweat guns and stuff for him,
and we got him popsicles, too.
No problem.
Yeah, no problem.
Have some more fun.
We love seeing him outside play,
and so we're like, we gotta hook him up.
Thanks.
Yeah, you're welcome.
I love when people are grateful.
Cheese.
All in one.
No, all in one.
All in one.
Oh, no.
Oh, my gosh, right?
I'm just kidding.
Get a close-up of all that rope, man.
One left.
Ah!
Thomas didn't come down here.
He's too scared.
Look at that dead bird.
This is new.
At least there's a new water heater.
Ah!
The hills have eyes.
I've never seen the hills have eyes.
Okay, don't ever watch it.
I say it a lot that I'm always like,
maybe the hills have eyes,
but I've never seen it.
I just refer to it all the time.
This would be like a,
something you'd never come down into, right?
I don't even know if 100 grand could do what I want.
It looks like someone got hung by that.
Okay, we're gonna buy it,
because we want to scream.
Ah!
Thomas!
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Tell me you got that.
Thomas!
Oh, yeah.
Thomas.
You can't scare her.
One time we were at the gym.
Oh, this little guy just happened to walk by her.
I think he said, excuse me or something.
She goes, ah!
Like, screams when people are on the treadmill.
Like, what's going on?
She, like, jumped and did exactly what you did,
and he just walked past her.
He's like, ah!
It scared him.
I want to get a highlight reel
of every time I scared Jen.
Like, this is gonna be real.
Johnny, mark my words.
I need a porch.
That's one thing.
Like, I want a wrap-around porch, you know?
Dude, there's so much you can do in here.
I know, you can...
Thank you.
I think there's monsters down here.
Look, there's a dinosaur!
Dun, dun, dun!
That's a huge snake.
Look at this.
You know what that means?
There is something in there
that could be human.
This is where you would sleep, babe.
Oh my...
Nice.
It is a half-acre.
Let's go.
Let's live here.
We found rustic house.
Yeah.
Oh, look at this.
This is a garden.
Wow.
You guys want to live here?
You guys can live there.
We'll be back.
Yeah, see, that's Uncle Russ's.
I think that's a good size.
I think 8,000 is way too big.
We used like three rooms.
Like, there's no way you could die in that.
Yeah, probably a crackhead.
Got told to the wrong stuff.
There is a rock.
I have never seen this before.
Someone made...
Look at that.
There's bolts and stuff in it.
That's American as can be.
There's definitely gotta be some walls
and some things to do.
Yeah.
I didn't see down here like this.
There's this huge sink.
So there are two more bedrooms down here?
Yeah, there's the biggest sink you'll ever see in your life.
Look at this.
Okay.
Look how big this is.
Dude, Tom and Colin couldn't wash their hands in that.
Actually, I think you guys killed them all.
That was a massacre.
That's called the blueberry massacre, Johnny.
Wait.
I'm hot as...
Don't even breathe.
What?
There's a traffic light on the tree.
Nice.
Does that come with the house?
Yeah.
1885 on the square footage.
1918.
I feel like it's gonna fall apart.
Have you seen those closets?
Thomas' shoes will not even fit in there.
Yeah, you know what?
I don't think his shoes will fit in this house.
I don't know what to do.
I'm sorry, Charlie.
This is cute, this window, huh?
That's a fancy little vanity on there.
Now that you've sold all your Christmas decorations,
or Thomas tried to sell them at the yard sale.
Hi, McDonald's.
Hi, I'd like to make an order.
Wait.
Super-sized fries.
Super-sized fries?
Okay, coming up.
Okay, this is $189.
Okay, that's $89 more than they should be asking for.
Exactly.
I feel like we really need to get a mirror installed
right here, like, pronto.
Maybe they think it makes the house look...
What's in the mirror, actually?
I feel like there could be a dead body.
No luck.
What the heck?
What is it?
There's, like, a painting, a creepy painting,
like the stairways to hell.
Is that, like, water or oil paint?
Oh my, I was not expecting that.
Isn't that random, Rygar?
Oh, very.
Okay, there's just a toilet at the bottom of the stairs.
Interesting.
And look at that, the toilet's sitting sideways.
Can you guys see that angle?
If all this was on one level, I would think differently.
You know?
Yeah, of course.
But, because this is nice and open, and old,
so I don't know how they're asking that much.
Oh, there's stairs.
Yeah, there's more stairs.
Oh, does this have a...
There's probably a severed head.
A short, tall stick?
Or, oh, okay.
Yep, a severed head, I knew it.
Do you guys scare me, too?
You guys, last time there was a dead bird.
Okay.
Was it a dead bird?
Yeah.
Ah!
Oh, hiding.
Yeah, there's nothing but these creepy chairs,
so let's go.
Oh my gosh.
Wait, we gotta get...
Look at that.
These chairs are in, like, misery,
where they break the ankle.
Why do you keep watching these scary movies?
Oh, it's cold.
Oh, ooh, ooh, that's scary.
Look at that.
What is that?
What?
Oh, a kid fell.
It's 100 years, 98 years old.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah.
The other, the one we looked at in Pleasant View,
that first one, that was 98 years old, too.
Honey.
Did he fall off of that thing?
I don't know.
Come on, let me see.
How many years ago did they say this is?
They said that this is 98 years old.
There's Thomas' shoe closet.
You guys ain't seen nothing yet.
I mean, look.
This is where we have our fire pits, our fires.
Yeah.
I think I'd rather, look at the ivy.
I made that ivy.
There's a bunch of flies in here.
Uh-uh.
I'll only buy this house if it comes with this.
If not, then I don't want it.
You know what?
Write him right now and be like,
she wants it as long as she can have
the yellow finger in the grass.
Okay, what's that?
Hey?
Hey!
Does it have like pigs over there?
It looks like there's a pig hole.
Oh my, I can't believe it.
Did you see the flies?
No.
Joanna Games can make this house cool,
but those stairs.
I'm just trying to help Ashley and Thomas
find a new house, which I think is really awesome
that they can buy a million dollar home if they want one,
and they actually want to downsize a little bit
and be able to use their money to help people
go towards charities and stuff like that
and use it towards other things.
So they're gonna try to find an older home like this
and probably restore it up a little bit.
And you know, they don't need 6,000 square feet
and they're okay with not having that
and living that lifestyle.
They're really good people and I commend that, you know?
Hi!
All the agents and appraisers and stuff.
It is legit.
Yeah, so it's pretty cool.
Come in, guys!
Big trouble?
Okay.
What's over here?
Where's the light?
There we go.
It's not the finish time here,
but it's not like a creepy hole.
There's a light, there is a light.
There's exposed brick houses like that.
There's a new entertainment center, right?
Yeah.
So much space for activities here.
No way.
Yeah, that's awesome.
Cute, huh?
That's the mail.
Hey, okay, I'm hiding it for that reason
because my mailbox is like two miles away.
Look how crazy this is up here.
There's like, there's two bathrooms right there.
Stairs that go over here to this room.
Is this your bedroom?
Do you want to live here?
Look at all the drawers.
Thomas and I have one pair of shoes in each one of those.
Hey, I want to be in a drawer.
Oh, okay.
There's three bedrooms up here.
Hey, this is a mess.
Say hi.
I'm sweating.
It's cute.
This one's cute.
Okay, okay, somebody needs to follow me.
Okay, we'll play some Halloween fun.
What's this?
A bedroom, just kidding.
There's Russ's house.
We always got to have at least a house for Russ.
There we go, Russ.
Russ, we found you a house.
Like, we're looking for a house for us,
but equally as much for you.
So if there's not a house for you in the backyard,
we don't even look at it.
And look, we found one.
Something I love more than anything are dormer windows,
which are all those.
Those are my favorite things on the house.
But you can, those are easy to add on to.
Like if you just got a house that was flat,
you can just stick them on.
You know, just stick them on, glue them on.
It's really easy.
Super glue.
All right, well that wraps up, I guess,
day one of house hunting.
Our next vlog will probably be pretty similar to this.
We'll be going through more houses.
So if you loved one of these that we went through today,
just comment below and let us know.
We'd love to hear what you guys thought.
And we'll see you guys later.
