what is up welcome back do you like to do it build it or make it so do we and we have a new video each week today it's test cut Tuesday once again we're test cutting a large watermelon you see got some layers I made the flowers layered and then it's got a checkered thing that Kim seems to be into right now yeah like and throw that check border around it the into the check border and it's not that hard to do you could do it in Illustrator using the repeat tool easy drew a square I repeated it tweaked it till I got it where I wanted it and drew a line around it are you guys wondering why Garrett sounds so subdued because I am he wasn't this subdued five seconds ago trying to match your your level of excitement I was just out in the shop bouncing around and stuff you're riding bikes yeah Kim why are you so so so subdued yeah hello hello all right so we don't have anyone here with us helping us moderate today but we do have it on the big TV over here so I'm gonna have to look over questions about like because I have the big lasers do I use the X tool and the Glowforge I do I still use them like every day like anytime I want to engrave something I'll use the X tool and the Glowforge I try everything out on the Glowforge in a small version just to see if everything fits what the layers look like use cardboard in the Glowforge the test well the big laser is used for production so yeah you order some blanks excuse me some unfinished kits from our store then they're being cut on the big lasers by Tanner but if tan everything for the farmers market oh and the farmers market yeah like 80 signs a week just for the farmers market not 80 I wish 40 we do we take about 40 to 40 80 sounds better though yeah I'd be nice I'd like to bust out 80 80 signs at the farmers market in three hours that's what I'm saying oh talking about the farmers market we just filmed a quick little top 10 tips yeah our craft shows so any of you that are our patrons we didn't do an after show this week but we did it this morning now when we were done we realized Garrett's mic was off so I was very focused on Kim's mic making sure that yours was always very focused on my mic so worried about my mic because he's on my hair hitting it but part of the reason why I had to cut it shorter yeah I made her cut it for the mic for the audio you're welcome anyway he's always worried about somebody else besides himself and he didn't turn his own mic on so we may I don't know you'll be able to hear it so we may have to refilm that but it was top 10 tips for a craft show yeah we were at another one this weekend and we were talking about what what we felt like where our lessons learned and he was like that's what we're gonna do we're gonna do that for our patron after show our top value give all right like a pro well lois asked how our weekend sale went well it rained saturday it rained saturday we did okay but sunday we did a lot better the weather was a lot better it didn't get too hot it was a little muggy but not too hot and uh we did double what we did saturday which is usually flipped yeah you do half on sunday of what you do saturday I was dreading sunday I was like man do we even go because saturday and if we did half of what we do saturday well and it threatened to rain on sunday too but but you know what really saved it the giant flag did you watch our social media did you see I thought that was very funny because when he left so I'm busy running the booth I'm I'm you know greeting people what you're supposed to be doing and he's like hey I'll be right back I'm gonna go up there and and um take a picture of the flag up there and then I saw the tiktok later that was can you see it now can you see it now can you see it now around the perimeter every 30 or 50 feet I would just give a quick check can you see it can you see it so but you know we were going up there for another purpose and that was to visit with Garrett's mom so we did that and that was great yeah show went well went okay probably about a half is half of what we expected but that's okay yeah okay it was in part of the reason too was that we paid late we knew we had registered for this show we were down on the end we were like the last booth literally the last booth so it was like a canal and booths on either side of the canal but you had to cross over at bridge points throughout the canal you know you couldn't just walk across or go under a bridge and we happened to be just outside under a bridge where they were cooking jerk chicken practically under the bridge yes so a lot of people didn't want to walk through the jerk chicken smoke smoke yes it was very smoky yes his little booth his food was awesome but created a giant smoke cloud and people didn't necessarily there were only three booths on the other side yeah he was like a troll under the bridge yeah and then on the other side of that there were three booths and that is it and we were the last one so there was two people and then uh since so sometimes people just didn't want to walk so there was there was us the jewelry lady brother's grim and then the jerk chicken guy no wasn't brother's grim the guy in the booth that he's talking about actually had this really cool idea he had his booth was all like doormats yes doormats and coasters of uh like famous of sewers around the world sewer cover yeah it looked like sewer covers like the round sewer covers or the like new york manhole covers manhole covers there you go and they said all these different cities on them um city of new york they had chicago i mean he just had cities around the world there was a london one and he told me that he took all the pictures i'm calling bs they were scattered about the world i don't know how he went and got all of those pictures well i'm sure i could google he's been into i'm sure i could google him and pull the same images i don't know well he had them on round sublimated on round doormats they were probably 24 inches yes like 24 inches wide somebody's somebody's calling our business phone sorry you guys want to hear i was trying to stop it but i don't know how maybe they can ask a question on the live it's done it's done all right we got a lot of things going on there yeah you want to okay you want to start yeah yeah one more time we showed you what we're doing right we're doing this looks like a full slight lift there you go there you go full slice of watermelon it's another watermelon one and i think it's really cute i just chopped it in half it's like a cross section of a watermelon everything is scored you're going to use all of the seeds are the same seed it's the same seed hello summer half watermelon yeah we've used it at workshops and that is i squished some of the seeds and made them a little bit smaller and lining them up has been a dickens it's been a dickens believe it at dickens gonna revert back to uh 1800s speak this is white green red do i even need to paint the backer i really just need to paint this rim i should paint this red though right yes oh look i'm just going to leave them all in a lot of wood you're using a lot of wood for this thing well i can cut the back out or something leave the seeds 3d do we just leave this piece off test cut tuesday yeah we leave that piece off he's got the whole centerpiece here you guys can give me your vote on this yeah so it looks like this and he's got it and it sits down in here and the seeds sit in there but i mean if you're gonna ship it pop or leave the seeds out maybe i just leave the seeds out and paint this black so the seeds look like they're in the watermelon like you have to chew them out maybe i don't know that one could definitely i think i'd have to peen it to see i'll see all right we'll do it both ways yeah i'll paint them both red just in case yeah because the rings are going to go over but the outside needs to be white right yeah white i'll make the outside white i'll paint the inside red all right let me see what's happening over here i don't know let's see whoops i'm going to use uh what heart throb that light that lighter red oh should i paint it i think i should paint the whole thing white first that's what i'm going to do i'm gonna paint this whole shebang white first give it a quick coat of pure white that way my my reds will stand out tons of mdf but i keep being told not to use it for door hangers oh i don't know why uh we have we have door hangers that are old oh and did you guys see on tiktok or somewhere i posted the giant 12 foot sign and that has untreated or unprotected we didn't clear coat it or anything just some chalk paint that's just this mdf and has been sitting literally straight in the rain for a year now and it looks great it says hello summer on the other side it's been laying face down in the dirt it's a little dirty but it's still holding up yeah and my sister she so i always use her as an example she does here yeah she keeps hers on the side of her garage which is right out in all of the elements and it looks great she's used her all one two years in a row um i think she's only had christmas for one year and now oh i think she is on her second year of summer though she's got her summer one out now lois said so did garrett did his do his balancing act with the flag at the craft fair sure did and she said she gets sidetracked easy and yes it was pretty there from the video it was oh yeah they had lily pads they had like real lilies with the lily pad flowers were up that was cool yeah and then they had never seen a lily i tried to catch it on film where a koi fish nipped at a duck's feet so they're both koi and ducks i like animals so it was a lot of me videoing animals and dogs i think you guys wanted to see that personal stash of videos um cali says hi hi hi and um about the ordering some signs who was it scrolled sorry guys scrolled hold on leslie ask about ordering some signs for a workshop how long does it take um we're pretty caught up right now so we can probably get them out within a week so especially if you're ordering a large quantity i'd give us about a week right now yeah we had a rush on those uh picket gnomes yeah we got a little behind uh those sold quite well which is great um but now i think we're back to like our normal rhythm so i give us about a week give us at least a week in advance and then um what else did you ask me about the workshop something else about the workshop hold on just how long to order she's oh how how oh no she's actually asking how long does it take to complete them at a workshop oh we make them so it takes about 90 minutes yep that's what i was gonna say 90 minutes i usually allow two hours for the workshop they'll usually complete them within an hour and a half our last workshop was small i only had like two or three people in it and they were done in an hour and that was with drinking wine there was a whole bottle of wine was gone in an hour they brought it i knew nothing about it scott says hello it's 100 degrees in kentucky wow that's why i have my t-top on today it's it's so hot today well actually in here it's pretty good earlier this week we had the doors open trying to cool off in the warehouse and it was 85 degrees inside this room does it normally get 100 degrees in kentucky i feel like kentucky's oh he said a thousand degrees oh a thousand degrees it's hot he said thousand degrees that is hot thousand degrees underneath palm trees um it is 84 in minnesota 99 in the twin cities what's this what you're looking for why are you getting a pink that is that that yeah that is that that's my flamingo i can't wait till we start offering our own paints what are we what are you doing with pink this is red yeah yeah yeah but it's not like all red i was gonna give a little pizzazz oh lord we're gonna be here all day oh we're not gonna be here all day i'm using a roller you sure you want it on the white plate i guess i don't know and then um catherine i think you mentioned this i don't know what to do about patreon oh you said you can't get patreon to work somebody else asked me about comments they couldn't comment on the video and i don't know what to do about that because um i don't know comments are on i didn't change any settings other people were commenting was it swear words it's where were you using swear words was it a lot of cussing maybe patron doesn't let you cuss at us you cussing at me anyway catherine yes i see kandace has given you our email address email me and i'll see what i can do to help you with patreon um i don't know i think that looks pretty pretty good somebody asked if we painted the back as well actually we have a new thing we've been doing we had a using at the farmer's market oh not that one not that one not any of these oh here this one there you go we're using melamine for the farmer's market so if you guys watched us last week we talked a little bit about the fact that we are a little short on wood our wood supplier suddenly was out of wood like suddenly out of wood ran out of wood and we were a little panicked as to whether or not we were going to be able to complete some of our orders they have since gotten wood and we're all good to go but for a minute there we were in a full-on panic about being able to have enough wood to complete orders so one of the options was hey i have from our yes quarter inch mdf with a melamine on one side which is this white kind of plasticky stuff melamine and did you guys want that it's actually eight dollars a sheet cheaper than what you've been paying for the two-sided mdf and i was like yeah give it to me i'll use that as and you know kind of in a pinch and so here i just wrote it she's cam now touch it with your roller just touch it well my roller is super dry like this all right smart so we uh so we were like yeah give it to me so we've been using that melamine backed uh mdf we've been painting on the raw side and use the melamine side as the back of the rounds and for the farmer's market and they look great i'm loving it so i'm going to keep using that so that was serendipitous huh no um when you do cut the round and you cut the pieces that it does leave a tiny little bit of burn on the outside it's not even that much and we use a magic eraser and we can just wipe that right off i just wipe it with the magic eraser then come back with a wet wipe and now the back is completely white and it looks super finished so i really like that look melissa wants to know how many signs we took for a three day event we for three days i would bring 140 signs um we did a two-day event and i brought 110 um tried to bring 120 but we didn't have enough we didn't have enough time to get them all done um just set that aside and go ahead and keep painting the other pieces no because it needs to be white for the ring on the outside do the inside red okay i got you i got you you're trying to see how long you make this project take i know we're out of time all right let me let me start painting a little bit instead of chit-chatting the whole time paint is the color of kim's hair it is the color of my hair isn't it you guys did i tell you last time they strawberry shortcake yeah yeah yep eric did my hair for me last time did i tell you guys that it's starting to fade again this stuff doesn't last very long uh we were watching tv together i was in a bar stool and he did he did are you paying attention make sure you make sure you're doing it i'll make sure you're covering all the pieces so he says i got it i got it yeah he went in he was just completely saturated for sure he did a good job what's happening over here let's see let's see oh all right katherine i'll i'll help you i'll help you with that minnesota makes i'm going to start masking the back of my door rounds until i'm done painting the front i'm a sloppy painter that's the other thing even when we got paint on that melamine because it's plastic um that magic eraser took that little bit of paint off so it really just cleaned up the backs amazingly well and i did that while i was standing there i didn't clean them all up before before we painted them we just brought them as is and then i would just pull them down and drinking water yeah we didn't have anything else well it wasn't our drinking water we found out later we had we didn't have anything to wet our sponge and so i was like is this your bottle of water and he was like no i don't have a bottle of water i was like well it's not my bottle of water i was like oops somebody left a bottle of water i was like perfect we'll wet our we'll matter wet our magic eraser with it minnesota makes says she has some of that mdf whiteboard now that i have the x tools i can cut rounds yep we can oh chipped build says i can't get over how expensive wood is right now what is it i know yes yes talk about eating into your profits and now you know in the back i wouldn't say much about you know the what was left over or something if something got messed up when you cut it but now we're much more sensitive about it i'm like that's 50 bucks right there that's 30 bucks right there 15 right there that's why we do like the final test cut out of the mdf and the first few cuts have questionable design i cut it out of cardboard just to make sure all everything is right especially with the new design i have it scored instead of cut and then once i have biggies um oh no london time says she was bummed at the craft show last week and only sold two one each day there were four other booths closer to the food and the music oh yeah um yes when we did the aqua kwan a couple of weeks ago we were right down there near the food and the music that was london times and she said but my booth looked great i'm so sorry your patron up ashley from chipped builds says she hoards every scrap now all right you're you're moving right along yeah the outside is green the inside is white so i can uh i can take the white one for you anyway we've been back-to-back craft shows and so we've been kind of crazy in here we've had because school just let out so we've had all the kids the older kids and the younger kids helping us paint signs for the two craft shows and uh so this week i was like no craft show this weekend we're just doing the farmer's market we just need to make sure we have 40 signs and here we are what's today tuesday nothing has been painted yet though bad news when you tell them to take it easy then it means oh way way easy yeah we don't have the teens here with us yesterday or today sarah you're still out there what else is happening here it was i mean uh scott wants to know if the navy and the air force are available oh the air force is getting the air force and the army would be cool the army i made them later so what do you what do you have left then just uh navy navy you would think you'd been hot on that one that's your thing of course we do of course we do yeah you know how it is with men can't find anything on ebay yeah yeah he does discount vans every every couple of every couple of weeks a new shoe shape shoe box shape box comes in i'm like did you get you some new vans that's what i love about ebay we'll buy vans if i like them i'll put them on ebay $25 vans he sure does yeah what was your fun fact about vans you were just telling me that they oh fun fact they're they're now the uh biggest biggest something along those lines it was like a whole week ago it was weight watchers thing and how i was trying to leave early on tuesday because i had this weight watchers meeting and um it was the first time i was going and so last week when we had so i was two weeks ago last week when it was time it was tuesday i was silent as a mouse because while i liked it it wasn't the issue with the weight watchers i just hadn't been like tracking my points and i knew i wasn't you know down any pounds and so i wasn't planning on going and then here it's like we had no weight watchers you ready to go and i was like okay so i went and then today wait she's like well i gotta go to the bathroom wait did i did i forget to clean lunch dishes there was a lot to do every obstacle yeah a lot to do right before we left so many things to do right before we left that's okay because i was driving and i drove straight there and then uh yeah well then we hit an accident on the interstate so i was like should we even bother and he was like yes you can go it doesn't matter they probably just started you're always five minutes late doesn't matter oh that's what yeah you did say that and so today here we are again it's tuesday i know we've been very busy so no one is thinking about this weight watchers thing so again i know we've been i had plenty of junk food over the weekend garrett's mom made him banana bread lemon bread cookies for the girls so i haven't been very good this past week either so i wasn't saying a word about weight watchers and then when garrett had to go out at lunchtime he came back and he says all right are we ready i know you got weight watchers tonight i was like how did you remember that and grace told him grace was like said is um is she going to weight watchers i'm going to because i told her she could sit and listen i don't know him i want to come too because grace is a 50 year old woman she is 14 turning 50 and she loves the company of other 50 year old women she just loves to talk to them now i've got to go now i've got to go they're making me go again tonight and again i'm not should i paint this red yeah i don't know why you keep trying to paint it pink he's trying to paint this watermelon no watermelon i don't think watermelon's like red red i think if it's too red it'd be rotten hey don't we have a little piece of watermelon over there should we get it we'll test it see no oh look at that i'm making it look real no never made to lifetime she dips out and dips back in oh wow she's lost a hundred yes as a matter of fact she already answered my question she lost 123 pound at pounds and has been at goal weight for 10 years awesome awesome very impressed very motivating thank you yeah look at that looks like real watermelon i come mike says he comes to visit garrett painting his favorite yeah i don't i can't believe he's on this like i haven't painted hardly anything this time because i'm making you do all the reading um cheryl says i really enjoy working with a laser machine when i worked at a science museum now here i am looking at what i want to do some things on oh that's uh martine said that was that the one that's getting the or the global um how many kids do we have we have six together six children's well only two are actually considered children at this point beth says she got the stand a standing desk so now i can march in place while on the computer it's working a little yeah oh yeah i want a standing desk yeah well the thing is when i paint here i can't i can't really sit on a stool and paint i've got to stand here and paint but i don't get any steps really i get very few steps how about that looks like watermelon i'm saying that this is can you see he's got it a little faded or something what do you got going there yeah well i put the pink down and then i just went through with the dry roll a very light coat of red yeah i think it looks watermelon yeah oh there it is look can you see it oh you just had it up looks good yeah i think it works perfect color thank you that's why i pride myself on the perfect color i gotta get my water in have a cheat day don't tell them i told you that i'm cheating every day yeah well funny thing is garrett went to the yep yeah so i went i got an ekg and everything i got he's doing like it's a physical annual physical i'm healthy pretty good oh everything well you guess you don't know all your lab all your blood works aren't done yet but yeah otherwise i'm fit as a fiddle for 49 tell them about what did they say about your heart got the heart of a runner athlete said an athlete said do you think i'm an athlete do you guys recognize that quote where that comes from garrett's favorite movie anybody know garrett's favorite movie ooh we'll send you the sign if you do it's not rad oh that is that is garrett's other favorite your green ring oh that has the slits in it so that's easy to line up that was easy to line up oh yeah it's so hard i hate wearing a mic where i can't edit out my sound effects everything gets a sound effect even if it comes with its own sound effects you get this out of here so you get the white one in here uh-huh you're on it you're on it this is the star bond thick so it's not runny get this out of the way line up your flares damn it's like putting a puzzle together because do you want to put the centerpiece in well i think we have to as i'm looking at this we can make them hang you make a hang hang hang it's right there yeah we can put it on the seed but i think that true question is this oh it'd be suspended no that's not good because it's not enough to really hold it okay so learn something oh i mean yeah you can get adventurous and uh lay it down all right let me throw some glue down here then that's welcome that's not making sounds like that apologize everybody apologize yeah just line the score marked up again great all right no but a little i don't know why i just didn't put glue right over the seed well it was out but i was like well let me take the long way around and possibly drip glue on the outside that's what i was thinking that's what i enjoy and you're riding the line flirting with death yeah it's one thing well oh bad news yeah see i could tell this one scored so i knew it went there this one should be right around here somewhere but it doesn't matter they should all be the same anyway i tried to use the same seed all the way around i don't think i messed with any yeah that was a huge lesson learned yeah trying to play perfection anytime we were at a workshop let me help you put the seed in yeah because all they have to do is get one small seed in a big seed hole and that's it i'm not getting the big seed in a small seed hole and it's already glued so it's a tough one i have actually ram jammed one of the big ones in the small hole before oh look at that look so much easier when they're all the same oh i think that's actually that one that goes there look at that like look the score mark lines up i was just grabbing them willy nilly you see that that looks so good looks like a watermelon cake i don't know if you can see the score marks that go around it whoops i almost dropped it oh yeah my flare is down yeah just keep the glue i'm need to make sound effects thank you cheryl yes i was look we're again at like an art show this weekend and i was looking at some of their stuff i think our signs are borderline art it's like yeah we're in a gray area between like between like art and um craft we're very heavy art as the craft i made one of these things a little bit wonky so you know which way there we go what was that one i gave it a slant keep them oh sorry about the sound effects again still there's that right oh i flipped this one that's right well tanner flipped it and cut it for me yeah i was saying about the power oh i fixed the file i fixed it yeah it won't be yeah i noticed it when i first did it out of cardboard and i thought i fixed it and sent it back did not i just sent the big the other one back right
