New York Mets Sign Catcher James Mccann to a 4 year $40M Deal

Yo, what is good everybody welcome back to Mets media This is Richie, and I'm breaking you guys some news that the New York Mets have finally made a move And they are bringing in free agent catcher James McCann on a four-year up to 40 million dollar contract And I'll be breaking down my thoughts on that if you guys are new to the channel make sure you smash that subscribe button if You are indeed a New York Mets fan I'll be posting a ton of content all throughout the offseason Give you guys my thoughts everything that Steve Cohen is doing the vision for Sandy Alderson and Steve Cohen when the season comes around I'll be creating content So make sure you go along and hit that subscribe button if you are indeed a New York Mets fan But that being said let's jump right into the news that the New York Mets have got their new starting catcher in James McCann So obviously going into the season we all wanted the big fish JT real Muto, but James McCann is not far off real Muto He's not as good. He's not on that superstar level, but he is a notch below and he's an above-average Defensive minded catcher who can hit the ball his stats in 2020 he had a 289 average which is solid 7 home runs 15 RB eyes a stolen base and He had a 360 on base percentage 896 OPS so he was an all-star in 2019 Which is a good sign he has been used to being that all-star. He was really good for the White Sox so again This is an above-average catcher, and we needed this is a huge hole for the spot and again if we can Spend the rest of our money on big names like Springer or Bauer then this signing will make sense I know we all wanted the JT real Muto, but that guy wanted like a 10-year ridiculous contract And I would have been okay with that But we went along and got James McCann who was above average catcher like I said And he's only gonna bring a defensive mind we need someone behind the plate that can frame the pitchers who can look really good for DeGrom and all of our Starting pitchers because we are known to be a pitching team and to have James McCann come in here Who's only 30 years old and we're gonna have him for the next four years is a very good sign and like I said previously We did not want to give all of our money to JT Ramuto because maybe we're saving the money for a George Springer or a Trevor Bauer if we can bring in either one of those guys or maybe both Then this offseason is already a home run because we're filling in the needs that this New York Mets team needs desperately We need a starting pitching depth alongside DeGrom and Stroman. We need a catcher. We got a new starting catcher in James McCann We need another big bat in the lineup like a George Springer. So if we can get all these players that we are anticipating If we did not get JT Ramuto, this is the exact type of player I wanted if we missed out on JT and McCann we would have been a huge trouble because we would have had to settle for Not a good catcher. So again, James McCann former all-star He understands how to play defense behind the plate. He has a knack to throw people out at second base when they're trying to steal He's just an overall Above average catcher. You can't ask for more. So it's a very good signing for Steve Cohen and they got him for a bargain I feel like four years 40 million ten dollars annually a year is a steal in my opinion And again, they're saving their money for that big fish and it's gonna happen over time I'm not expecting this to all news break, but there's rumors out there that the Mets are in heavy talks with George Springer We hear Trevor Bowers very interested So if we can get both of those guys It is going to be a fun time for the New York Mets if you guys want to see more New York Mets content Let me know down below in the comment section I might be creating a player profile series where I break down each player on the Mets Give you guys their 2019 stats my projected stats give you guys my record prediction and break down basically the entire roster So again, if you guys are not subscribed already, make sure you do so because I got a lot of New York Mets content here So that does it for my video, please let me know down below in the comment section your thoughts Are you guys happy with this news? Do you guys wish it was JT? Are you settling with James McCann? Like okay, we got an above-average catcher. We needed to fill this hole So let me know your opinion down below in the comment section Love hearing you guys have to say smash that like button if you enjoyed that does it for this video Hope you guys are having a fantastic day.
