Here is where I got the WiFi Extender for the best deal. It worked really well for us so we could use our Smart TV again!! It got to the point where it wouldn't even load even 10% of the time, even when it did it was very hit or miss.. Now it works amazing!! Hope this helps anyone having the same issues!!! Good luck!
Longer ago we lived in a different place and it worked really well and it was really close
proximity to the router and so this time we are not so close to the router and it worked
for a while and then it wouldn't work.
And so I'll show you what I did to get it to fix.
Now this is on Netflix here.
I'm going to show you this is before I fix it and then I'll show you after I fix it and
show you what I did.
So we'll get it to load hopefully.
Still loading.
Ah!
There we go.
So it came up.
See how long it's taking even to show the icons of the videos?
So I'm just going to select one here and then once it comes up so I'll hit play and then
watch what it does.
It loads up to about a quarter of the way really fast right there and then it stops.
Now I don't want to make this video too long so I'm going to fix it and be right back.
So to not make the video too long I reset up my configuration and I got it back to this
point where I hit play.
So I'll hit play and then it starts loading.
So like before it will go up to a quarter and then it will stay there for a little bit
and then boom!
Jumps up just that fast which is super fast compared to what it was before and sometimes
it varies a little bit but usually it does it really well and there it is ready.
So just wanted to show you how much faster that it loads than before and what I did to
actually get my TV working because it was so frustrating I was ready to pull my hair
out or something because it's such a nice TV but I couldn't get it to work.
I had to keep watching stuff on my iPad simply because it just could not load fast enough.
So what I got was the Edimax.
It's a wireless range extender and it really works.
What I love about it is it was really simple and easy to set up.
Some of the companies boast about that there's no cable needed or no DVD needed to set things
up or CD but what my particular issue was is we live in an apartment and the wireless
is included, the Wi-Fi, and there's no way for us to access the router without bugging
the homeowners and they're not here lots of times.
So we wanted something that we didn't have to reset the router because a lot of them
require you to push the router reset button and to pair it.
This one you can do it yourself and there's only like four simple steps.
Very easy to follow.
You just plug the cable into the computer, the instructions are with it, but you just
plug the cable into the computer, put in a CD, ask a couple questions, and boom it's
set up.
So I'll show it to you on the TV next.
So I wanted to show you what it is.
It's a wireless extender and yeah if you can see the name there, however you pronounce
it, it's Edimax or Edimax and what it is it's a wireless range extender.
So all it does is it takes the signal from the wireless router and it makes it stronger
in a different place and so what we had to do, I'll show you here, we had a cable that
plugs directly into the back of the TV.
That's what we had to do in our particular situation and I'll explain why.
We can't access our router since the homeowners have it and we're just renting and so what
the lady told us with the TV company here that Philips, Philips is our particular brand,
Smart TV, and what she told us is that a lot of routers have firewalls up that will not
allow anybody to extend the range when it's a secured network and this is, it has a password
which is what it means to have a secure network.
Anyways, so the way that we got around it since we can't have them remove the firewall
is we just plug it in directly with the cable that comes with it and so it's really not
a big deal because we don't need the wireless extender for anything else.
Everything else works fine, it just wasn't fast enough to load the TV but like the iPad
and the phones and computer and stuff like that work fine with the strength that it is.
Because basically if you have this on wireless mode, it'll enhance the signal for everything
and that would be nice, you wouldn't have to have it plugged in the back of the TV like
we do here but it worked for us because yeah, in our particular situation, I just wanted
to show you that there's an option to do that.
Now if you do do that on your TV, you will have to, here I'll get it up here, actually
what you want to do is go to your settings and what you'll have to do in your setup,
in our particular one it is under installation and then it's under networks and if you go
to network, then you have to go to your manual networks and then over here you'll have to
go to wired instead of wireless.
If you have it in wireless network, that's what you want it on but if you plug it in
directly like we did, then you'll have to go to wired to do it.
So hopefully that helps you and I just wanted to show again what it is, it's just like I
said this is only like $28, this particular one I found it on Amazon, I'll put a link
in the video description for you if you want to get it.
It's one of the very cheapest ones that they have and it really works well.
So that's what I did to fix my TV and yeah it's very very good instructions there on
it, how to use it and it's very simple to set up.
My wife set it up while I was gone at work to show you how easy it is.
So and she generally doesn't do any kind of techy stuff.
So anyways, good luck and hope it fixes your TV problem like it did mine.
Thanks for watching.
