GOSHEN- Inspire’s Goshen facility will receive $50,000 in state funding to make its gymnasium more comfortable and accessible for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Assemblyman Brian Maher (R,C-Walden) visited the facility to present the grant, which will fund acoustic ceiling baffles and impact-resistant wall panels to reduce noise and echo.
The improvements are designed to create a more sensory-friendly environment, particularly for individuals with autism, sensory sensitivities, and communication challenges.
“Inspire does incredible work providing families living with intellectual and developmental disabilities with the support and resources they need to thrive,” Maher said, adding that he was proud to support the organization’s mission.
Inspire Executive Director Dr. Donise Robinson thanked Maher for the funding, calling it an investment in the well-being and opportunities of the individuals and families served by the organization.
Founded in 1950, Inspire offers educational, recreational, therapeutic and family support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Its gymnasium serves as a hub for programs, activities and community gatherings.
