CARMEL – The Town of Carmel has formulated fire and EMS prevention contracts for 2027 totaling some $4.5 million.
Volunteers staff the town’s three fire departments, while ambulance services rely on both paid staff and volunteers to handle the high call volume in Putnam’s largest municipality.
The Mahopac, Carmel and Mahopac Falls fire departments provide fire protection, while the Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corps and North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps provide ambulance services.
Taxpayer funds totaling just under $1.8 million will cover the Mahopac FD; $1 million, Carmel FD and $990,500 Mahopac Falls FD while the Carmel VAC will be paid $568,500 and the North Salem VAC, $13,200 to cover a small portion of the township that abuts Westchester County.
The Carmel Town Board will hold a public hearing on the contracts during its November 18 meeting.
