LOS ANGELES — Miley Cyrus Helps Fan Undergoing Chemotherapy Shave Her Head
Miley Cyrus has offered a personal show of support to fellow musician Cash Jacobs, helping her shave her head as she undergoes chemotherapy for Stage 3 breast cancer.
The “Flowers” singer met Jacobs after the aspiring artist appealed to social media users for help connecting with Cyrus during the singer’s Hollywood Bowl performances on Oct. 16 and 18.
In a video documenting their meeting, Cyrus asks Jacobs, whose hair appears to fall well past her shoulders, whether they are really going to proceed with shaving it.
“I’ve shaved my head before,” Cyrus tells her, before offering words of encouragement: “You can be soft and strong at the same time.”
Before beginning, Cyrus takes a moment to thank the universe for bringing them together. She then checks whether Jacobs is ready. After Jacobs confirms that she is, Cyrus, a multi-platinum artist, takes up the razor and begins shaving her hair.
The footage, shared by Jacobs, captures Cyrus reassuring her throughout the process. She compliments Jacobs’ head shape and calls her “so gorg.”
“You have a tiny head and tiny ears,” Cyrus says, adding that the look “doesn’t look awkward.”
Jacobs, a singer-songwriter herself, had first posted a plea on TikTok on Oct. 15, asking for help getting Cyrus’ attention ahead of her first concert at the historic venue.
She explained that her hair had already started falling out because of her treatment.
“I am going to wear a wig tonight because I’m a little self-conscious about my balding head,” Jacobs wrote. “But if she calls out my name or anything of the sort, I’m going to rip my wig right off and wave it in the air so that she can locate me.”
At one point, Jacobs said Cyrus’ team had asked for her seat number. Although the meeting did not happen that night, Jacobs said she still had the “best night” ever at the concert.
After returning home, she posted another message expressing her continued hope of meeting the singer.
“Miley if you see this, would still like to meet you,” Jacobs wrote. “10,000 out of 10 show. It was so good and I cried like a baby. I’m going to shave my head when I get home. I’d rather be around loved ones, family and do that.”
Her wish eventually came true.
In a TikTok post accompanying the video of the head-shaving session, Jacobs reflected on the experience and thanked Cyrus for her support.
“They say don’t meet your idols. Well I did. And it was everything and more,” Jacobs wrote.
She revealed that Cyrus had arranged for her to return to Los Angeles, providing tickets to the second night of the Hollywood Bowl shows and taking time to meet her afterward.
“Miley not only flew me back out to LA with tickets to night 2 at the Hollywood Bowl but she took the time to meet me after and help me through one of the scariest and most intimate moments of my life,” Jacobs said.
She also described the challenges she had faced since her diagnosis, including undergoing a procedure to have a port inserted into her chest and beginning chemotherapy.
“Finding out I had breast cancer, getting a port put in my chest and starting chemo was hard enough as it is,” Jacobs wrote. “Never mind the side effects I’d soon be facing from the chemo.”
Jacobs explained that Cyrus’ music had long provided comfort during difficult periods in her life.
She also expressed gratitude to the people who helped bring her request to the Grammy-winning singer’s attention.
Looking ahead, Jacobs said Cyrus’ songs would serve as a reminder of her experience and resilience.
When the difficult period is behind her, she said, she will be able to listen to the singer’s music and remember that she endured the experience and emerged stronger.
