HOLLYWOOD — Chris Pratt Confirms Star-Lord Will Return to the MCU

Chris Pratt, who has portrayed Star-Lord across six films, has confirmed that the character will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), revealing that the studio has already taken “hard action” to make the comeback happen.

During an appearance on The Playlist’s “Bingeworthy” podcast, Pratt discussed the plans for Star-Lord’s return and described his ongoing conversations with Marvel leadership.

“I have a great relationship with Kevin [Feige] and Lou [D’Esposito], and there have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken to make sure that we make good on that promise,” Pratt said.

He added that audiences would see the character again, although he could not disclose a timeline for the return.

“So yeah, you’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be, but he’s not going anywhere,” the actor said.

The confirmation follows comments Pratt made months earlier, when he revealed that he had pitched Marvel an idea for bringing Star-Lord back into the MCU.

Speaking on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Pratt expressed his willingness to continue working with Marvel while explaining that he already had a clear direction in mind for the character.

“I’m happy to do anything they want me to do and will,” Pratt said. “And also, I personally have a really strong vision of what I would want him to do. And I think it’s fucking great.”

When asked whether he had presented the idea to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Pratt confirmed that he had done so. He also expressed interest in helping shape the franchise’s future.

“Yep. And I think that, you know, I’m down to contribute any way I can to them setting up the next 10 years of storytelling, you know? And also, I have a pretty strong idea of how I think I could contribute to that,” Pratt said.

Pratt’s Star-Lord has appeared in six MCU movies: “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Thor: Love and Thunder” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.”

The third “Guardians of the Galaxy” film included a credits scene that promised Star-Lord would return, setting the stage for the character’s eventual comeback.

Meanwhile, the next MCU installment, “Avengers: Doomsday,” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Dec. 18.
