YORKTOWN- A Garrison man faces a false-reporting charge after allegedly calling 9-1-1 to claim that someone was being held at gunpoint in northern Westchester.

Yorktown Police on Saturday reported the arrest of 36-year-old Charles Johnson in connection with the incident.

Police said the charge stems from an incident on June 12, when Yorktown officers responded to a residence after receiving a report that someone was being held hostage at gunpoint. Officers investigated and determined the report was false and that no one was in danger.

After authorities identified Johnson as the person who made the call, a warrant was issued for his arrest and during a traffic stop Westchester County Police turned him over to Yorktown Police on the active warrant.

He was arraigned in Yorktown and released without bail, with a hearing scheduled for November 10.

The charge carries a maximum year’s incarceration in a county jail plus fines of up to $1,000 if found guilty.
