Malibu — Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber have made their first public appearance since the death of their son, Presley Gerber, as longtime family friend George Clooney has spoken about the tragedy.

The couple was photographed holding hands while walking along Zuma Beach in Malibu following Presley’s death.

Crawford and Gerber both wore white tops, with the supermodel pairing hers with black yoga pants and her husband opting for black shorts. They completed their outfits with baseball caps and sneakers during Saturday’s sombre outing, while Crawford also carried a smartphone.

Their appearance came one day after Clooney, a longtime friend of the family and Gerber’s co-founder at Casamigos tequila, described the loss as “the worst thing that could ever happen with family”.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on Friday at The Albies, an annual awards ceremony established by Clooney for The Clooney Foundation for Justice, the actor said: “Quite honestly, it’s one of the most devastating things that’s happened to our family.”

“And their family is just … as you can imagine,” he added.

Presley died on September 20 from an apparent overdose, just hours after checking into a sober living facility in Santa Monica. Footage showed him giving a tour of the facility in the hours leading up to his death.

He was 27 years old.

Shortly after his death, a representative for the family told Page Six that they were requesting “privacy during this very difficult and painful time”.

Sources told Page Six that Presley had checked into Resolutions Living over the same weekend he was pronounced dead.

Dispatch audio obtained by the outlet indicated that first responders had been alerted to an “overdose” and “cardiac arrest”.

Presley was reportedly discovered in a bedroom at the sober living facility.

A source told Page Six that he had received support from a sober coach who was available 24/7 to help care for him before his death. TMZ reported that he was cremated just days later.

Crawford and Gerber married in 1998 and welcomed Presley in 1999. Their daughter, Kaia, was born in 2001 and is now 25.

Following Presley’s death, a source told Page Six exclusively that Crawford was “inconsolable” and “absolutely devastated”.

The source added that the family “is still trying to process everything that happened”.
