“The timing here is certainly interesting…”

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs apparently won’t be getting out federal prison in late January 2028 as originally scheduled.

Whether related or not, the revised release date comes soon after an NBC News report that Diddy was allegedly living large in the lockup, including supposedly paying other inmates to cook and clean for him.

The scenario, if accurate, almost sounds like the perks available in a five-star hotel rather than behind bars even at the Fort Dix, N.J., minimum-security facility.

From Hollywood gossip site TMZ:

“Diddy’s countdown to freedom just took a hit…his release date was just moved back by over a month…and the timing here is certainly interesting.

“Federal Bureau of Prisons records now list March 2, 2028 as Diddy’s release date…he was previously set to be set free on Jan. 21, 2028…but now that’s been delayed six weeks.

“The timing is hard to ignore…because the move comes on the heels of a report claiming Diddy was getting VIP treatment behind bars.”

People magazine and the Page Six gossip section of the New York Post also reported Diddy’s extended stay.

People added that Diddy, 56 is still in solitary confinement, which may or may not have resulted from the NBC revelations.

In a statement to People, the Federal Bureau of Prisons asserted that “For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including reasons for a change in release date.”

During an appearance on Maureen Callahan’s The Nerve podcast, gossip columnist Rob Shuter advised Diddy’s prison helpers to be wary of any “huge” promises:

“…Diddy is promising people in jail that if you look after me, when I get out, when you get out, I will look after your family, I’ll look after you. You’ll come and work for Bad Boy [Records]…promises that he never, ever delivers on…

“…and I know that he will use his celebrity, he’ll use his power, he’ll use his money, to spin you a yarn. You will never, ever, see him again. The only time you will see him is when Diddy decides for his comeback – he’s gonna lean in to what a ‘tough gangster’ he was in jail. And you telling the world that you did his laundry and massaged him does not fit that narrative. So he is gonna want no part of you…”

Reacting to NBC video of Diddy using a cell phone at the jail as filmed by another cell phone, Shuter claimed that, in general, drones are dropping contraband into prisons.

As [your]NEWS previously detailed, Sean “Diddy” Combs was convicted in federal court on July 2, 2025, of two counts of transporting individuals across state lines to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act. Jurors, however, rejected the most serious accusations against him.

TMZ separately reported this week that a court has ordered Diddy to pay NBCUniversal approximately $500,000 in legal bills.

Diddy has an estimated $400 million net worth.
