New York — Casey Bloys is staying with the company as he steps into an expanded role overseeing HBO Max and Paramount+ under Skydance.

Bloys, who was recently named co-chair and chief content officer of Skydance DTC, has signed a new multiyear extension, according to people familiar with the matter. His existing HBO contract was due to expire next year.

The new agreement comes as Bloys prepares to lead the newly combined streaming structure and signals a commitment between the executive and Skydance as the company moves into its new organization. The deal was announced the same day Skydance disclosed its corporate structure.

Skydance said Bloys’ responsibilities across HBO Max and Paramount+ will include original programming, as well as strategy, operations, communications and performance for the company’s streaming platforms.

Bloys previously signed a five-year contract in October 2022 that kept him with the company through most of 2027. Financial and other terms of the latest agreement were not disclosed, beyond the description of the pact as “multiyear.”

On the television side, Skydance also announced that JB Perrette, formerly Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO and president of global streaming and games, will become co-chair and chief business officer of Skydance TV and Skydance DTC.

George Cheeks, previously chair of TV media at Paramount Skydance, will take on the role of co-chair and chief content officer at Skydance TV.

Bloys’ expanded responsibilities, including Paramount+, were revealed last week after Cindy Holland, Paramount’s direct-to-consumer chair, told colleagues Tuesday that she would be leaving.

Additional details about the leadership structure under Bloys are expected Tuesday. Skydance said its new executive leadership team “will be issued soon after close.”

Bloys joined HBO in 2004 and eventually rose to executive vice president of HBO programming. He became president of HBO programming in 2016 before later taking on oversight of HBO Max.

During his tenure, HBO and HBO Max have produced series including “The Pitt,” “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” “The White Lotus,” “The Last of Us,” “House of the Dragon,” “DTF St. Louis,” “The Penguin,” “Succession,” “Chernobyl,” “Barry,” “Girls,” “Veep,” “Insecure,” “Mare of Easttown” and “Big Little Lies.” “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” is among the projects in the pipeline.

The Ankler was first to report that Bloys had renewed his deal.
