MAHOPAC – Putnam County’s executive race is one of its most contentious in years, pitting Republican County Executive Kevin Byrne against Democrat Brett Yarris and Conservative Tatiana Brahimi.  The trio’s dislike for each other will reach new heights Sunday when the candidates draw weapons and take part in a Trap Shoot Out.

The Putnam County Firearm Owners Association is hosting the event at the Willow Wood Club off Union Valley Road in Mahopac.

While the County Executive Shoot Out begins at 2 p.m., others wishing to take part may begin loading their weapons at 10 a.m.

Firearm Owners Association spokesperson Cindy Trimble of Cold Spring has reminded participants to “bring your own shotgun, birdshot as well as eye and ear protection.”
