POUGHKEEPSIE –, the monthly celebration on Main Street in Poughkeepsie on the first Friday of each month between June and November, continues to draw larger crowds.  On the first Friday of each month, Main Street between Market and Academy Streets closes to traffic at 3 pm to let local businesses and entertainers set up and show people what the Business Improvement District (BID) has to offer.

October’s First Friday brought Corey Glover, the Grammy Award-winning frontman for Living Colour, back to the city, along with a crowd of fans who listened as Glover showcased his vocal range.  Billboard Magazine has ranked Glover among the top 50 Greatest Rock Singers of All Time.

Glover’s last performance in Poughkeepsie was at the Chance Theater as a performer for the long-running Foodstock Fund charity concert series.  For nearly two decades, the Foodstock Fund has provided over 400,000 meals for those in need in the Hudson Valley and provided a full holiday meal for the kids who live at the Children’s Home.
