“This is not some normal s— you see in jail…”

Officials at the Fort Dix, N.J., federal prison have reportedly decided to relegate music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs to solitary confinement, which the jail refers to as the Special Housing Unit.

According to Hollywood gossip site TMZ, the move comes after NBC News published a report about Diddy’s “pampered life” behind bars at the minimum-security facility that, if accurate, almost sounds almost like the perks available at a five-star hotel.

Combs, a.k.a. inmate #37452-054, is serving the reminder of his prison sentence at Fort Dix where he is currently scheduled to be released in late January 2028.

He is currently appealing the sentence.

From TMZ:

“Multiple sources tell TMZ…Diddy is returning to SHU in response to this week’s NBC News report about his alleged VIP prison stay — a lavish lifestyle that allegedly featured massages, fancy meals, contraband booze, and inmates doing his chores. We’re told this is typical procedure for an inmate as prison officials conduct an investigation.”

Combs, 56, was reportedly placed in the SHU in July after an alleged altercation with another inmate in the jail.

“He has spent thousands of dollars a month to bring his lifestyle to the low-security prison…,” NBC News’ sources claimed, “with the money flowing from people outside prison to the commissary accounts of those inmates performing services for him.”

Diddy has an estimated $400 million net worth so he can easily and allegedly afford to live large in the lockup.

[As an aside, the scenario seems roughly similar to the special, cushy treatment that incarcerated fictional British gangster Bobby Glass (played by Ray Winstone) enjoys in the Netflix crime drama The Gentlemen, which recently premiered its second season on the streaming platform.]

NBC News based its report on Diddy’s “privileged” prison life, as alluded to above, from what it allegedly learned from four unidentified persons who were housed in same Fort Dix unit.

“There are men who cook for him and men who clean for him. There are men who make his bed and men who do his laundry. There is even a man who gives him Chinese-style massages…

“Multiple sources said he uses contraband cellphones to scroll Instagram and scan nude and sexually explicit photos that an old girlfriend sends him. He’s been able to buy from other inmates an antidepressant drug sought out for its mood-boosting effects — Remeron, or ‘rem-roms’ as they are known in prison. On weekend nights, he’d often tap into a secret stash of premium liquor, which would be smuggled in by guards and shared with a tight group of fellow inmates….”

One of NBC’s sources asserted that “This is not some normal s— you see in jail. This is some rich s—. “It looks crazy, but again, it’s Diddy.”

As part of a lengthy statement to Fox News Digital, a Fort Dix prison spokesperson stopped short of any confirmation that an investigation is underway in this particular matter, but did say that “Inmates are not permitted to have access to cell phones, and all incarcerated individuals in the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) who are found to violate the ‘Inmate Discipline Program’ policy are subject to sanctions…we generally can tell you that allegations of staff misconduct are taken seriously and, consistent with national policy, referred for investigation if warranted.”

A rep for Diddy seemed dismissive, however, of the reporting: “The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news.”

As [your]NEWS previously detailed, Sean “Diddy” Combs was convicted in federal court on July 2, 2025, of two counts of transporting individuals across state lines to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act. Jurors, however, rejected the most serious accusations against him.
