ALBANY- New York’s economy grew faster than that of any other state during the second quarter of 2026, according to new data from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The state’s real gross domestic product grew at an annual rate of 4 percent from the first quarter to the second, nearly twice the national growth rate of 2.2 percent, the data shows.

Governor Kathy Hochul pointed to job creation, workforce development and investments in communities as factors behind the growth.

“My administration moves forward with nation-leading policies and investments to keep sparking even more economic growth,” Hochul said in a statement.

The governor’s administration has highlighted investments and expansions involving companies including Micron, IBM, Regeneron, Chobani and Fairlife, saying those projects are expected to create thousands of jobs across the state.

According to the BEA, the largest contributors to New York’s economic growth during the quarter were the finance and insurance sector, followed by information, real estate and rental and leasing, and professional, scientific and technical services.
