CORTLANDT – A 58-year-old Cortlandt Manor man was killed while riding an all-terrain vehicle near Old Crompond Road in Cortlandt.
State Police Thursday identified the victim as Robert Kristoferson.
Troopers from the Cortlandt barracks determined Kristoferson was operating a Yamaha Grizzly Ultramatic 600 when, for an unknown reason, the ATV rolled over and partially pinned him beneath.
EMTs and a paramedic responded to the scene, but Kristoferson was pronounced dead.
The death marks the third recent fatality involving off road vehicles in the area.
Earlier two residents of Putnam Valley died when vehicles overturned on private property in separate incidents.
