CARMEL – Fido, Erin, Princess, Magoo, Simba and Beauregard are all special family members.
The four-legged friends had their day at the Mt. Carmel Bible Church when Pastor Andrew Columbia officiated over a Blessing of the Pets quoting Bible scriptures of God’s love for His creatures.
The pastor described the pets as “family deserving God’s blessings as well.”
Chief George Ross from the Putnam SPCA was in attendance discussing pet safety and an increasing number of cases of animal abuse and abandonment reported countywide.
Deputy Eoin Hughes and his canine partner Sadie, a magnificent bloodhound, were blessed in addition to a variety of cats, dogs for adoption from the Putnam Humane Society and a bearded dragon which sat on a parishioner’s shoulder throughout the ceremony.
