LIBERTY – Sullivan County’s Center for Workforce Development in Monticello is stepping in to help workers impacted by the closure of the Sullivan County Adult Care Center. Officials organized an exclusive job fair on Tuesday to connect the facility’s 86 county employees directly with regional health care providers and local employers.

County Communications Director Dan Hust says they are doing as much as they can while expecting a positive outcome for the job seekers whose skills are in demand.

“We’re looking to make sure that everybody that is being laid off is going to have another job to go to,” Hust said.

He says if you missed this event, there is another in the works.

“It’ll probably be the first of several. I know that there’s a second one that’s going to be scheduled, because we had room for ten employers, for the job fair that we just held, and we have five more that wanted to come, but we didn’t have room for them,” Hust said. “We are working optimistically, with the goal of making sure that every employee there has the opportunity to continue to work in the area.”

When the county announced the closure of the facility last month, it said it would place as many of the employees as possible in other county jobs and help the remainder secure work through the workforce development center.
