SPRING VALLEY- Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Assemblyman Aron Wieder (D, Spring Valley) visited Piermont Pier today as part of Heastie’s annual statewide tour, announcing $2 million in state funding for municipal and emergency operations in Piermont and Spring Valley.
Spring Valley will receive $1.5 million for snowplows and other municipal equipment. Piermont will receive $500,000, including funding for a new search-and-rescue boat, Pier road repairs and new children’s park equipment.
Heastie and Wieder were joined by Piermont Mayor Nathan Mitchell and Spring Valley Mayor Schenley Vital during the visit to the historic 4,000-foot pier, which dates to the mid-1800s and was originally the terminus of the Erie Railroad.
Officials said the funding will help strengthen essential services and improve safety for residents and visitors along the Hudson River.
