The Cleveland Browns finished with a 5-12 record last season, and they have missed the playoffs the last two seasons. With Deshaun Watson being the starting quarterback, there is a great chance that Cleveland will finish with one of the worst records in the NFL this season. Even if Shedeur Sanders plays in games this season, the Browns are probably going to be selecting a quarterback in the 2027 NFL Draft in the first round.

If Cleveland were not to land a top selection, two quarterbacks may already be off the board. They may have to figure out the quarterback position elsewhere if that were to happen. There is a very good chance that general manager Andrew Berry is not making the next quarterback selection for this franchise in next year’s draft.
NFL Analyst Predicts That the Cleveland Browns Will Draft Ohio State Buckeyes WR Jeremiah Smith In the 2027 NFL Draft

Nick Baumgardner of the Athletic created his pre-season version of the 2027 NFL Mock Draft. He has the Browns having the third overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Baumgardner thinks that the Browns are going to wind up selecting Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. He said,
“The Browns will be somewhere in line for a quarterback next spring, but if the best player in college football — and the best wide receiver prospect we’ve seen since Julio Jones — falls to you, then you drop whatever you’re doing and turn in his name.”
Smith is 6’3″ and weighs 223 lbs. He caught 87 passes for 1,243 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns, along with averaging 14.3 yards per reception. Smith is no doubt going to be a top five selection in next year’s draft. He is the most pro-ready wide receiver since LSU Tigers wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase during the 2021 NFL Draft.
Smith should very well have a third-straight 1,000 plus yards receiving year. The Buckeyes offense is going to be really good again. It would make sense from a talent standpoint for Cleveland to draft this special man. With that being said, the Browns maybe looking at drafting a quarterback with its first selection instead of a wide receiver in next year’s draft also.
