New details from the police response to Hayden Panettiere’s death show that her former boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother were present at the apartment where the 36-year-old actress suffered cardiac arrest Sunday.
According to a Greenville Police Department report cited by NBC News, officers responded to the Judson Mill Lofts while emergency medical personnel were attempting to revive Panettiere.
The responding officer initially spoke with Zack Hickerson, Brian Hickerson’s brother, who was described in the report as “very emotional” as medical personnel worked on the actress.
Brian Hickerson also became emotional after EMS personnel declared Panettiere dead, according to the report.
He then showed police a “bag of medication” that Panettiere had been taking at the time of her death.
The report did not establish whether any of the medications played a role in her death.
Authorities completed an autopsy Monday.
Officials said the examination found no evidence of trauma that would have contributed to Panettiere’s death.
The newly released details provide additional information about the circumstances surrounding the actress’s final moments but do not identify a cause of death.
Panettiere died Sunday after going into cardiac arrest at the apartment, with both Brian and Zack Hickerson at the scene when emergency responders arrived.
Authorities have not announced findings connecting the medications shown to police with her death, and the autopsy finding that there were no contributing signs of trauma leaves the cause unresolved based on information released so far.
